Watch: Juelz Santana- Jingle Bellz

Juelz Santana has a new video for his song “Jingle Bellz” featuring Starr from the “Jim Jones & Skull Gang Present A Tribute To Bad Santa Starring Mike Epps” album. Yes it is as bad as it sounds. I love Christmas music, so I figured I would give the song a chance since good Christmas music sometimes comes from the most unexpected places (i. e. Death Row Christmas)…but damn this is horrible. If you’re going to write a jingle, you should at least make sure it rhymes…which apparently was totally lost on the person who wrote the hook. The video is suuuuuper low budget. Starr looks so swapmeet that it is comical. Somebody please tell her to step into 2008 and get rid of the fake diamond choker and the peekaboo bra action. I thought it was kind of funny how they rented a Bentley for the video, but couldn’t go to the 99 cent Store and buy some wrapping paper and boxes to make the Christmas tree scene look a little less sparse. Womp womp!

What do you guys think of the video?

Listen: Common- Punch Drunk Love Remix Featuring Pharrell

Common has a remix for his song “Punch Drunk Love” featuring Pharrell. For the Remix the production is a little slower and smoother…but the lyrics (with the exception of the hook) are pretty much the same. Pharrell doesn’t contribute much to song…just a few ad-libs but no verse…which makes this remix seem a little pointless and like it is missing something. It would’ve made more sense if this was the original version and then Common came out the version featuring Kanye. I prefer the original Kanye version…but I might prefer the remix when I’m in a more mellow mood. Click here to listen

What do you guys think of the remix? Which version do you prefer? Isn’t it kind of backwards to take a verse off a song for a remix rather than add one?

Watch: Ryan Leslie- How It Was Supposed to Be

Ryan Leslie has a new video for his song “How It Was Supposed to Be”. I see Ryan is trying to inject some life and energy into his image…but the music and his demeanor aren’t enough to disguise his laid back vocals. I like the song, but the video does nothing for me because he doesn’t have that natural magnetism. Still…I’m interested to see what his album is going to offer since I’ve liked several of the tracks he has released so far.

What do you guys think of the video? Am I being to harsh on Ryan or is he just really lacking charisma and star quality?

Watch: Mariah Carey- Right To Dream

Mariah Carey has a new video for her song “Right To Dream” from her movie “Tennessee”. The video contains scenes of her acting and I’m so not impressed. She has the same blank expression and monotonous voice in every scene…so I’m guessing her performance in this movie is going to get panned like “Glitter”. The song is kinda nice though…Mariah does a good job with these inspirational songs. Between the movie scenes and her singing in the recording studio the video is very bland.

What do you guys think of the video? Do you think Mariah will prove herself to be a good actress in “Tennessee” or should she just stick to singing?

Upgrade or Downgrade: Keyshia Cole Remakes Mary J Blige’s I Love You

Keyshia Cole remade Mary J. Blige’s “I Love You” with a little help from Lil Wayne. Keyshia does a pretty good job but it’s damn near impossible to top Mary. Keyshia’s delivery sounds too coached, too deliberate, and not as natural and raw as Mary. When Mary sings she gets just lets loose and pours her heart out, yet Keyshia sounds a little forced. With that said…this is kinda hot and Lil Wayne adds some nice flavor to the track. Also, it’s a very nice gesture for Keyshia to show her respect and admiration by remaking Mary’s song. Click here to listen  (Click Here to Listen to Mary’s version- Fast Forward to the 2 min mark)

Watch: Nelly- One and Only

Nelly has a new video for his song “One and Only”. Hmmm…yeah totally not feeling this at all. The production is super wack…way too “Crying Game” for my taste. I don’t know what happened to Nelly…he just fell all the way off. He looks mighty fine in the video though…he should try and take up a modeling career.

What do you guys think of the video?

Watch: Ludacris- Everybody Hates Chris

Ludacris has a new video for his song “Everybody Hates Chris”. The video is a tad bit on the low budget side, but it is pretty funny. I prefer Redman’smuch funnier “I’ll Be Dat” (click here to watch) version of self-deprecation over Luda’s…but I give credit to Ludacris for being one of the few rappers left who can poke a little fun at himself.

What do you guys think of the video?  Which one is better- “I’ll Be Dat” or “Everybody Hates Chris”

Thumbs Up or Down: Mariah Carey Performs Christmas

Mariah Carey performed the classic “Christmas” at the Grammy nomination ceremony. Damn Mimi…get it together boo. She sounds HORRIBLE! I’ve been saying for a minute that she said “f*&k effort” this entire year…but this is a new low.

Listen: Jamie Foxx- Digital Girl featuring The Dream and Kanye West

Jamie Foxx has a new song called “Digital Girl” featuring The Dream and Kanye West. HOT! I’m so feeling this…Kanye starts off the track with a nice verse and I’m loving Jamie’s voice. The production is an interesting sound for Jamie…his first album “Unpredictable” was much more traditional R&B but this has a slightly dance and electronica sound. The Dream is a nice subtle addition to the song….I guess for now he has dropped the “ella ella ehh” (which I actually kind of liked). I can see this being a hit and based on what I’ve heard from Jamie so far I’m starting to get excited about his new album. Click here to listen

What do you guys think of the song? Don’t we need a little grown man sexy on the R&B scene right now?

Discuss: Grammy Nominations

The Grammy Nominations were revealed yesterday and here is the wrap-up:

“Lil Wayne the most prolific, ubiquitous and successful performer on today’s music scene — was the most rewarded by the Recording Academy on Wednesday, receiving eight Grammy nominations including album of the year for “Tha Carter III.”

Following close behind was Coldplay, with seven. Their “Viva La Vida,” one of the year’s best-selling CDs, is in album of the year contention along with Radiohead’s groundbreaking “In Rainbows”; singer-songwriter Ne-Yo’s “Year of the Gentleman”; and Robert Plant’s collaboration with Alison Krauss, “Raising Sand.”

I’ve sifted through the exhaustive list of the categories and pulled out hte ones the I’m sure you guys are interested in hearing about.
