Lady Gaga has released an epic 9 minute video for her song “Telephone” featuring Beyonce. I’ll be honest…this is the kind of song I wouldn’t normally like unless I was in Vegas tipsy and fist pumping at XS or Tao…and the video didn’t make me like the song more. BUT I do think this is a great video. I’m a huge Quentin Tarantino fan and this video certainly channeled his dark yet quirky style.

The dialogue was very QT-ish and there were some killer one-liners that are sure to be repeated over and over again (watch and you’ll instantly know what I’m talking about). There was lots of fashion, good choreography, a crazy plot, and a whole bunch of stuff you would never expect for a song that isn’t at all menacing.

Lady Gaga said in an interview this video has a deeper meaning and is meant to be a commentary on our society…I’m not buying it though. Artists often say that to get away with outlandish shit. It’s entertaining and that’s all that matters to me. So with that said…I won’t give away the video for those of you who haven’t seen it. Enjoy.

Jagged Edge has a new video for their song “Tip of My Tongue” featuring Trina and Gucci Mane. The video quality is better than I expected but all the chicks in here look hella cheap. Trina gave a surprisingly subdued performance in the video (despite being half naked). If you love blatantly obvious product placement, slow motion dancing, and close-ups of scantily clad women with bad makeup jobs then this video is all you. The song is cool, but the video doesn’t upgrade it for me.

B.o.B. has a new video for his song “Nothing on You” featuring Bruno Mars. I like this song and the video is really cool. B.o.B. is such a cutie…he is like a chipper and much better looking Kid Cudi. I was really impressed B.o.B.’s first video and single so I’m glad to see him back with another one. I like his positive vibe so I’m hoping he gets more shine.

T. I. is back with a brand new single “I’m Back”. I love how he wastes no time getting amp’d up on the track and just immediately goes in. I’m really feeling this. The production is hot, TI brings the intensity like he has been waiting to get this off his chest for the past year. Drake’s first official single “Over” has hit the net. He has some mean punchlines and the production flip is hot too. It’s kinda hard to be juiced about the song when the hook is so wack though because as much as I enjoy the verses, I know that the chorus is going to come on and ruin it. I don’t like the hook at all! I’m not blown away by this but I’m interested in seeing what else he has in store for his debut album. Also, I’m pleased that at the very least it doesn’t sound so much like everything else he has put out in the past six months. Click here to listen

Ludacris remixed his song “My Chick Bad” and threw Diamond, Trina, and Eve on the track. Diamond’s verse was just ok to me and started the song off weak. Trina, though I’m not usually a fan of hers, actually spit a pretty hot verse. Eve is the standout on this song. She is really one of the very few legit female rappers in the past decade…she can actually flow and doesn’t just talk about how fat her a$$ is or how good she is in the sack. Overall…this was decent…definitely not an upgrade to the original despite Trina and Eve having better verses than Nicki Minaj. Click here to listen

Nivea has a new video for her song “Love Hurts” and it stars her baby daddy Lil Wayne. Undoubtedly the song is autobiographical so it’s only appropriate to have Weezy playing the guy that does her wrong. The song is actually pretty decent and the video isn’t half bad. On another note it must kinda suck to be Nivea right now…she leaves her husband and child’s father, gets with Lil Wayne who has kids by two other women in the span of their relationship and has a kid by him only for him to date someone else. Meanwhile her ex-husband moves on, marries someone way hotter, and has a child with her and they have a happy family. Oh well…at least she got a video plot out of it. Although I must say Dream did a much more impressive job writing about this situation than Nivea did.

Estelle has a new video for her song “Freak” featuring Kardinal Offishall. This is actually the most artistic and eccentric video I can recall Estelle doing, but umm…she looks super unattractive in it. I’m all for doing something different but the vanity in my says you should never present yourself looking a hot mess. Anyway, I like the song, it’s very different and it will most certainly be a hit with the dance crowd.

Trey Songz has a new video out for his song “Neighbors Know My Name” and it stars model Jessica White as his leading lady. Trey clearly likes to push the envelope by making his videos very sexual and very provocative. At this point I don’t even think he is making these videos for tv, just strictly for the internet. I confess I rarely watch 106 & Park or other video shows, but I can’t imagine this not being deemed inappropriate for that venue. Nonetheless, Trey has a smart strategy because he is definitely solidifying his status as a sex symbol which at the very least sells plenty of concert tickets (if not albums). The video is pretty hot and he tries to switch it up an ounce by going with a whole “red light special” vibe. I’m sure this video will get his fans excited, but I would like to see Trey switch it up for his next single/video.
