T. I. is back with a brand new single “I’m Back”. I love how he wastes no time getting amp’d up on the track and just immediately goes in. I’m really feeling this. The production is hot, TI brings the intensity like he has been waiting to get this off his chest for the past year. Drake’s first official single “Over” has hit the net. He has some mean punchlines and the production flip is hot too. It’s kinda hard to be juiced about the song when the hook is so wack though because as much as I enjoy the verses, I know that the chorus is going to come on and ruin it. I don’t like the hook at all! I’m not blown away by this but I’m interested in seeing what else he has in store for his debut album. Also, I’m pleased that at the very least it doesn’t sound so much like everything else he has put out in the past six months. Click here to listen

Ludacris remixed his song “My Chick Bad” and threw Diamond, Trina, and Eve on the track. Diamond’s verse was just ok to me and started the song off weak. Trina, though I’m not usually a fan of hers, actually spit a pretty hot verse. Eve is the standout on this song. She is really one of the very few legit female rappers in the past decade…she can actually flow and doesn’t just talk about how fat her a$$ is or how good she is in the sack. Overall…this was decent…definitely not an upgrade to the original despite Trina and Eve having better verses than Nicki Minaj. Click here to listen

Nivea has a new video for her song “Love Hurts” and it stars her baby daddy Lil Wayne. Undoubtedly the song is autobiographical so it’s only appropriate to have Weezy playing the guy that does her wrong. The song is actually pretty decent and the video isn’t half bad. On another note it must kinda suck to be Nivea right now…she leaves her husband and child’s father, gets with Lil Wayne who has kids by two other women in the span of their relationship and has a kid by him only for him to date someone else. Meanwhile her ex-husband moves on, marries someone way hotter, and has a child with her and they have a happy family. Oh well…at least she got a video plot out of it. Although I must say Dream did a much more impressive job writing about this situation than Nivea did.

Estelle has a new video for her song “Freak” featuring Kardinal Offishall. This is actually the most artistic and eccentric video I can recall Estelle doing, but umm…she looks super unattractive in it. I’m all for doing something different but the vanity in my says you should never present yourself looking a hot mess. Anyway, I like the song, it’s very different and it will most certainly be a hit with the dance crowd.

What do you guys think of the song? Do you like the straight dance flavor Estelle is going for or do you prefer her R&B sound?

Trey Songz has a new video out for his song “Neighbors Know My Name” and it stars model Jessica White as his leading lady. Trey clearly likes to push the envelope by making his videos very sexual and very provocative. At this point I don’t even think he is making these videos for tv, just strictly for the internet. I confess I rarely watch 106 & Park or other video shows, but I can’t imagine this not being deemed inappropriate for that venue. Nonetheless, Trey has a smart strategy because he is definitely solidifying his status as a sex symbol which at the very least sells plenty of concert tickets (if not albums). The video is pretty hot and he tries to switch it up an ounce by going with a whole “red light special” vibe. I’m sure this video will get his fans excited, but I would like to see Trey switch it up for his next single/video.

What do you guys think of the video? Do you think Trey is too one-dimensional with every song and video being about sex or is he just catering to what his fans want?

Monica has a new video for her song “Everything to Me” and she has Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson as her leading man. I have to say I really love this video and the song. It is so wonderful to see Monica getting her (classy) grown woman on. She looks stunning and gorgeous in the video…her hair cut is slamming (and one color for a change) and I would seriously jack her for that red dress! Her and Chad make a super hot couple, and she exercise some decent lil acting chops there. I like the plot of the video . This gets a big thumbs up from me and I really hope she gets some buzz.

Kanye West has a new video for his song “Coldest Winter”. I’m actually pretty shocked to see that Kanye has come out with a new video from his “808 & Heartbreak” album considering it’s been such a long time since his last video and he never bothered to release his video for “Robocop”. Anyway…with that said Ye is reliably creative and compelling in his music videos. The video is understandably dark and menacing but even in his creative mode he couldn’t resist casting a busty chick for the role. I love the video and it perfectly matches the tone and vibe of the song. I’m looking forward to NEW music from Kanye but this video shows there is still life from his last album.

Ledisi has a new video for her song “Higher Than This”. I really like this song…Ledisi is always good for making a positive and uplifting song which I think is great. The video is simple, but cute. The little girl casted to play a young Ledisi is so adorable. Great song and nice video for the grown folks crowd.
