Listen: Drake- Over
Drake’s first official single “Over” has hit the net. He has some mean punchlines and the production flip is hot too. It’s kinda hard to be juiced about the song when the hook is so wack though because as much as I enjoy the verses, I know that the chorus is going to come on and ruin it. I don’t like the hook at all! I’m not blown away by this but I’m interested in seeing what else he has in store for his debut album. Also, I’m pleased that at the very least it doesn’t sound so much like everything else he has put out in the past six months. Click here to listen

I like it. But I think I like Drake lol…the hook isn’t so bad to me. I think he did a good thing by switching it up. It was getting to a point where you kind of knew what a ‘Drake’ song sounded like. By far, he has been the most successful mixtape artists that I’ve ever known.
It’s a cool track. The sound is nice. Doesn’t seem like a number song or anything but, it feels like it will flow nice on the album. I like that it doesn’t feel like a So Far Gone song either. It just feel like new Drake and its good.

. So many people sre expressing mixed feelings about this song. I love it. The hook is a little off bit I mess with it. It’s an event joint in which people are going to have to get ready for. Say what you want but Drizzy means business and you can see it through this song. He now has the attention of the lovers, haters and in between. We’re all waiting patiently to see what he does with this album. SEATBELTSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Calmly hops off Drake’s proverbial d***.*
Reecie, this might be a cataclysmic event. WE AGREE ON SOMETHING!!! Haha… i thought the hook was awful, but the rest of the song is great. Like you said, its a switch in style, and I love how he can adapt his flow to the production. I hope to hear more music like this from Drake
There was either ppl who really felt the verses or ppl who felt the hook. i feel like thats y some folks is mixed bout it. its gonna get play regardless cuz its drake.But for a debut single for your debut album, i woulda saved my dopest material, cuz u live ur life workin up to ur 1st album. Like when u first heard ’successful’. it was a fiyah and powerful record from jump. Or even ‘best i ever had’ or ‘uptown’. At least make a record on par or greater, but ‘So Far Gone’ really set the bar high cuz we all got high expectations for dude…
I fall smack into the ‘love the hook, hate the verses’ category. They’re mediocre in contrast to what we know he can do. Tracks like ‘Succesful’, ‘Fear’, and ‘Say What’s Real’ are chock-full of memorable one-liners and (semi-)insightfulness. In that respect, the verses here seem weak. It doesn’t help that he seems to be channeling Wayne’s flow, either.
I’ve always maintained that signing for Young Money was an awful move for Drake, and while I’ve yet to be proved correct (or incorrect), I have a nagging feeling that they might take him down the wrong path.

Well the one good thing that can be said about the mixed reviews is that at least most people like something about the song. The song shows promise but I wouldn’t have termed this his first single because it just doesn’t knock it out of the park.

This song is banging, and he will blow big time with Lil Wayne in jail, TI, etc. Perfect timing
