Listen: Ryan Leslie- Zodiac
Ryan Leslie has a new song called “Zodiac”. I’m really digging this. Ryan has a distinctive style that is very grown and sexy without being adult contemporary which is hard to pull off. The production of the track is hot, I like Ryan’s voice…but he seriously never needs to rap again. Overall…I like this. Unfortunately Ryan still comes across in his videos as corny and a bit awkward so his music hasn’t been able to catch on as much as it should. If he can ever get his image/swag (I know people hate that word but oh well lol) together he could be a real force to be reckoned with. Click here to listen

I dunno I think the fact that he’s so weird and awkward can be his thing and he should own it. I would rather see an artist get lost in his music than just stand there singing because he’s being told to tone it down for the sake of looking cool. Even if he does dance like Elaine from Seinfeld.
I remember I saw Kanye at Jay Z show way the fuck back before he blew up and I remember his spazzy ass dance onstage vividly cuz it was real, he was really feeling his shit and expressing himself.
Ibra….I could understand your point if Ryan Leslie was awkward and weird in an interesting way…but he is awkward in a very bland and boring way. He has zero spark on the screen…maybe it’s because he is trying to be too cool or maybe it’s because he is just not cool at all. He even looks corny in his pictures to me. I guess maybe we shouldn’t expect every artist/celebrity to be a compelling character. Perhaps being a regular, totally uninteresting person with a nice voice should be enough to get a pass.
Yea I think he should embrace the fact that he’s a Band Geek. and went to harvard when he was two years old. It’d be a lot better for his image.
