Watch: Mariah Carey- Obsessed
Mariah Carey’s new video for her song “Obsessed” has been one of the most closely guarded leaks in a minute, but I finally got my hands on a working video. I’m happy to say that I’m not disappointed in the video at all and love it! Sure any other time watching Mariah in a mock photoshoot basking in the glory of her fame and fortune would make me roll my eyes, but in the context of this song it fits. Her not so subtle impersonation of Eminem is hilarious and she really does a great job making him look like a loser stalker. All too often rappers take shots at R&B singers (like Em at Mariah and the Game at Beyonce) and the singers just take it on the chin…but I’m glad to hear Mariah strike back. I’m all for women empowerment and not allowing someone to spread malicious rumors about you so Go Mariah! I’m surprised that Nick Cannon didn’t make a cameo in the video, but I think Mariah showed that she can handle her own and won’t be pushed around.

I like it for the most part but hated the extended photoshoot. She actually portrayed him very well especially when she did that move from 8 Mile. However I don’t say it’s ok for her to let people walk over her but somehow I feel by responding she is stooping to his level. You know this is just fuel for Em because he thrives off controversy.
I still think she’s doing too much. Nice video, the song is ok … But she should have let it go. He already did and she’s just keeping the bullshit going. She decided to turn kinda childish with this *shrugs* …
Song is ok, and video is ok. I don’t really think she necessarily intends to keep the thing going. As a songwriter myself, if I go through something I write about it and get it out, if it sounds like a song that is going to be a hit they I release it. It doesn’t mean I want to continue the problem, just means the song is good enough to be a single.
I was wanting the video to be a little more cryptic..the Mean Girl references were cute..but it didnt upgrade the song for me. Too much posing going on.
I agree with Reecie as far as Mariah sticking up for herself. If the song is about Eminem like many people assume it to be then more power to her. People always want the woman to take the higher road and ignore things while men degrade them. So I can’t be mad at her for putting a record out like this..if it really is about that.
Deva…the first thing Eminem did when he came back on the scene was start dissing Mariah all over again. He dissed her several times in the past few months and I think this was Mariah just saying she is fed up with him. The kinds of things he was saying about her (like he pissed on her) definitely warranted a response from her end. If someone was out there saying the kinds of things about me that he was there would some smoke in the city I can tell you that much! Nick tried to stand up for her but he was kind of a punk a$$ about it…so Mariah took matters into her own hands.
I agree with you all that the photoshoot/posing thing was too big of a part of the video. I think they could’ve been a lot more creative with it (like Mariah’s video for “Heartbreaker” with Jerry O’Connell…ya’ll remember that?).

I love Mariah Carey and can’t wait for this new album..
I don’t dislike Eminem but i hope this helps him to grow up in terms of Mariah now..
And i’m glad she released something she could not only have fun with but let out a message with too that also manages to sound good..
I watched this video yesterday and i give it two big thumbs way up!!! Way to go Mariah, repping for the real women of the world. I CAN NOT stand that racist idiot named Eminem and i only wish he could go back into retirement ASAP because the world was better off when he was away>>>

on the other hand , Em is the best rapper , the best lyricist! He even replied to dis one in a song called The Warning or sumthing like it! Em is cool! Mariah is HOt! not much of an argument to me. Actually fun to watch em/ hear em hatin on each other.
i wonder what really happened between both of em. Anyways, a gurl lookin dat fine, wit dem booties and boobies goin on. i bet every man wanna do her!
