Michael Jackson Day on HM: Watch Some of His Biggest Videos
As millions of people around the world mourn the loss of Michael Jackson I want to take a day to remember his remarkable music. I’ve read countless twitters, statements, status updates, etc…and the common theme is celebrating his music. Michael Jackson’s career spanned over decades and he has left a lasting imprint on every aspect of Pop Culture. Below are some of his biggest videos, but first…the “25th Anniversary of Thriller” video briefly examines the musical, artistic, and fashion impacts of the biggest selling album of all time.
Here is “Thriller”…it needs no introduction.
Beat It: Known for incredible dance moves and the most iconic red leather jacket in the history of the world.
Smooth Criminal: If you haven’t tried the famous lean move and fallen flat on your face in the process, you haven’t lived yet.
Folks, share your thoughts on MJ’s music. What is your fondest memory involving a MJ song?

I’d have to say “Billie Jean” was one of my favorites.
There so many great choices, its hard to pick a favorite. I know on my blog I didnt go with my favorite (Man in the Mirror) but with a fond childhood movie watching memory instead of Free Willy.
As I sit hear reading more and thinking more, I also got to mention the Jackson 5 rendition of “Give Love on Christmas Day” on the Motown Christmas Album. I know this is out of left field, but the album is great and young Michael is so crisp on that track.
This might start a lil controversy, but I just want to bring up a point here.
Where were all these people when MJ was accused of sexual harassment? I’m not talking about the fans like you Reecie. I’m talking about these little kids on facebook saying “RIP Mike you’re a legend!” Half these kids don’t know what his music sounds like. I respect the man for his music, but he’s become a center of worship. Idk i think it just reflects how much importance we put on our celebrities.
R.I.P. MJ. Great entertainer, not much else
FYI: Exactly…” accused” NOT found guilty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R.I.P. MJ. Great entertainer, and a even GREATER MAN!!!
Just because someone is a kid does not mean they do not have general knowledge on music, that is like saying they don’t know who elvis or tupac was. If they are on facebook that means they are able to read and access the internet and all that it has to offer. You do not need to reach a certain age in order to proclaim someone is a legend, the title king of pop didn’t come out of thin air.
I think you’re being a bit of a hypocrite by saying he was a great entertainer but not much else, that in itself is something worthy of praise in today’s world where music is lacking quality, among other things.
I apologize if it seems I am singling you out it wasn’t my intention. I think I can agree on the worship aspect, if you actually have seen people praise him in a godly manner (I have not), he certainly isn’t equatable to religion or spirituality…
Anyways…
I LOVE PYT and am wondering if there was ever a video, it is one of my favorites!
Millions mourn? No, billions. His reach was larger than life. RIP.
kc: fair point. i shouldnt judge. it just bugs me when people bandwagon, and how many kids do you think actually listened to MJ’s music before he died? How many 16 year olds’ ipods was he on? it just goes to show, like kanye said, people never get the roses while they can still smell em. I’m sure those same kids were making Michael Jackson jokes before his death. Now they are giving him utmost respect. I was just making a point. Idk how the great entertainer part was hypocritical, but I am hypocritical in judging him by his accusations. We all make mistakes, and I apologize for that
what did you think about the BET Awards Show??
superman…MJ was much more than “great entertainer”. He was a philanthropist, a cultural ambassador, a trailblazer.
It’s easy now to take for granted just how far we’ve come when music like R&B and Hip Hop is so etched in the Pop culture fabric and accepted. The world MJ and the Jackson 5 started out in wasn’t like that. He went from a kid in Gary, Indiana to an international superstar and icon.
He used his celebrity to raise awareness to so many issues and he put his money where his mouth is. $300 million donated to charitable organizations is a beyond incredible amount of money and is just one thing instantly characterizes just how big of an impact MJ had on the world.
