Watch: Kanye West- Amazing featuring Young Jeezy

Kanye West has a new video for his song “Amazing” featuring Young Jeezy.I love this song so I’m glad to see it get a real video. The scenery in the video is definitely amazing….there probably is no better imagery for “amazing” than the geography created by Mother Nature. I think it’s pretty clever to take a song that is all about bravado and ego and do a video that focuses on something much bigger than self. I like this…I would love to see a video for “Robocop” or “Paranoid” next though. (edit: I JUST read that Ye filmed a video for ”Paranoid” with Rihanna and “Robocop” with Amber Rose…Go Ye!)

What do you guys think of the video? What would you like to see as the next video from “808 & Heartbreak”? How does this video stack up against the NBA Playoff promo?

This video is amazing. I’m feeling it. I can’t wait to see the video for Robocop.

On another note I just got that new Asher Roth album and it’s banging. I’m going to laugh if his album does better than Rick Ross who is still stuck on 50 hoping it will increase his album sales.

I’ve heard about Asher Roth…I read that he made a comment he was “hanging with nappy headed ho’s” on his Twitter…so yeah he definitely gets a thumbs down from me. He claims to have just been making a joke about Don Imus, but unless he was hanging out with a bunch of 60 year old white-haired White Guys then I don’t see the humor in it.

I saw him premier this vid yesterday on 106th Park. Am glad you put it up so fast because i really like this video too. The only thing that was not too great was Jeezy’s part. Hope it climbs to the top(well behind Shaff, of couse!!! lol

P.S. As for Kanye making a video with Rihanna , i can not wait. I miss seeing Rih and i just think that the two of them would make an awesome couple. (if only in real life, now that would be super amazing)

@t reecie….did you watch Kanye on 106th yesterday?! because Kanye was on that “ego thing” again butt i could not help butt to find him amusing. Can’t help but love that man. On anothernote, he did say that he was working on another project in Hawaii but that he was keeping that one private. When i heard him say that, i thought that it may have been a project with Rihanna because ive been reading all over the place that the two of them were supposed to be in Hawaii to work on something together, mainly her new album. Maybe i was right. Hope this brings them MUCH closer because i think its about time that she get’s over CB and get with a real man, like Kanye!!!

@t reecie…Wow did Asher really say that!!! Its no surprise, because a lot of those white celebrities that claim to like black people and wanna hang with black people are really prejudice against us blacks, esp. black women. I used to like Eminem until i heard what he said about black women in the past and from then i have lost all self-respect for him. It’s just so sad that alot of us “put the likeing of a certain music” before our own self respect. In that saying, i hope that Rick Ross doubles in sales while the other fails!!!

Reecie – I haven’t heard any mention about Asher Roth making those comment. After all the coverage I’ve seen from him on BET,MTV, and other blog site I’m surprise it wasn’t reported.

What your take on the whole Jamie Foxx and Miley Cyrus situation?

^ If you checked him out on twitter then you would have seen his statement. Why wont some black men stand up for us black women when we are downgraded and dissed by men of other races????!!!! Why do we as black people keep on supporting them, when they are obvioulsy not supporting us butt “trying to be like us” just so that they can sell!!!
Its time that you men stand up for us black women and support us because we have been degraded for way too long. Thats Y ama keep on loving NE-YO…A true Gentleman, only wish that they were more men like him out their!

do you know Ne Yo in person? do you know for sure he’s a gentleman? you can’t go by his music cuz if that were true, chris brown would be one of the greatest guys on earth. we all saw how that one turned out.

    @reecie

so you’re not buying that man’s music because of a twitter status? one that is simply a joke? yes, its bad taste in humor, but its his twitter. for all we know its a joke he has with some female friends of his. if thats the case, it is their business if those girls allow themselves to be disrespected like that.

i’m not saying his status was funny or that i support it, but i just think its a little bit of an overreaction to not give his music a chance due to a twitter status

I see people aint even talking about the video. Anyway I do like the direction Kanye went with the video – it made me look at the song in a different way. However this video quality is very poor. The images are not clear and I feel he could’ve incorporated them better – throw in some wildlife, wonders of the world etc. This feels like something he just threw together on his computer. And what’s with the girl creeping and the blackness where you cant even see? Even if that was meant to portray night and day I still don’t digg it. I don’t think it’s amazing. Kanye could do better than this.

@ Jamaican Woman: You need to change your name or shut up. You should create your own blog if you want to talk shit all day. It’s not becoming. I didn’t even see or hear any of that but my intelligence tells me there must be some misinterpretation. And yes I’m black – very black indeed.

@ Viscuizurban: I agree with you. I used to respect Reecie but she is very quick to judge and critic someone she doesn’t like. And it doesn’t matter how poor her favorite artist does – she finds some good in it anyway. Total bullshit.

lmao….Woooooooooooooooooow this is hilarious. I wonder why it is I can criticize people all of the time (even though I offer more praise than not) but whenever I offer less than stellar remarks about a White dude (JT and now I guess Asher Roth died and became God) people have so much shit to talk.

Let me get one thing straight….I have zero interest in Asher Roth always have and always will. I checked out “I love college” and wasn’t jocking. Go back and read my comment and point out where I said I won’t buy his music because of his twitter. I’m not going to buy his album because he doesn’t interest me. You guys don’t have to put words in my mouth…because I have absolutely no problem speaking my brutally honest opinion. If I cared that much about Asher Roth’s stupid ass comment then I would’ve created an entire post about it rather than responding to a specific question that was asked of me. Anyway…all the hysteria is pretty hilarious and ironic. You folks taking a 3 sentence comment and getting your panties in a bunch acting like I crucified Asher Roth is over the top.

Vic…as far as you go..to say that this site has been reduced to a gossip blog is just flat out incorrect. The only “gossip” I report on are things that can be verified by video, audio, or pictures. I don’t report on every little stupid ass thing that other sites do because I do not believe in making shit up about strangers and posting it up all over the internet. But whatever the case you are entitled to your opinion and entitled to hit that little square box in a corner with the X in it (and that applies to you too “ananymous”).

Stallion…I thought Jamie Foxx was way out of line for what he said about Miley and I was pretty disgusted about it. As someone who has a teenage child he should’ve known better and exercised better judgement. He is an Oscar winner and I’m pretty sure a Grammy winner…he should be more conscious of the fact that his comments are going to garner far more scrutiny and attention than before. I wouldn’t be surprised if that comment hurt the opening week of his new movie.

JW- I loved Obsessed! I thought Beyonce started off very weak but she came into her own as the movie went on and got much better. She is no Halle Berry but she did a good job and I’m glad to see that the movie did so well.

@t Reecie: am sure that Jamie didnot mean that. Jamie has been acting kinda crazy lately after he did that movie. He even said that on 106TH Park. He said that that movie affected his mind and that after the movie he had felt kinda crazy. He said that he had to go in the mind of a skitsofraniac (cannot remember how to spell that word) and that that affected him mentaliy for a minute (or something of that nature)> But when i was watching him, i could tell that some thing was wrong with him. He seemed a little off and you can tell that even ROXIE saw it because she kept moving away from him when he kept going close to her.
He was also acting weird on the night show with J LENO! A friend of mines said she saw the show and that she noticed that he was acting a little off and that it seemed that J noticed it too. Jamie just needs time to come out of his trance, hopefully sooner than later!!!

    • April 28th, 2009 at 10:59 pm

superman…I’m still missing how it’s hard to take a comment that says nothing about his music out of context. I didn’t say his music sucks, I’m not buying his album for xyz…I just said the first thing that popped in my mind about Asher Roth at that moment (every major blog I visited moments earlier had a big post about it but I chose to brush it off and do one on Kanye)…it’s really not that deep. I have sooooooooooooo much shit on my plate right now the super last thing I give even the slightest care about is Asher Roth…so I just find it hilarious that people are attaching so much to what I supposedly meant from a simple comment. But hey you guys would make a great street team for him lol.

Anyway…JW…not buying what Jamie is selling. I’ve been seeing previews for his movie for months now so I’m sure he didn’t go that crazy. He crossed the line and he apologized and that’s pretty much the most you can ask of a person and then you make the choice whether or not to support them still. Jamie is comedian so it’s inevitable that he will cross the line every now and then but hopefully he will just be more considerate when talking about a child (to me 15 or 16 is still child).

    • April 30th, 2009 at 10:37 am

This post is hilarious. Reecie simply isn’t interested in Asher Roth and she has no obligation to listen to him, especially when his lead single didn’t catch her ear. I don’t think we ever set the standard at HM to review every artist with a record deal or with an album. Obviously, she implements a level of quality control of the music she wants to post and review.

Personally, I – thehonorable – think Asher Roth sucks. His lyrics are minimal and generic, his storytelling perspective is annoying, and his music is anticlimactic. Just about 80% of the album was like…”What’s the point?”

His two best songs are “I Love College” and “As I Em.” Even though he claims to be not be like Eminem, he can’t help that when Slim Shady LP was released…he became Eminem.

Let’s take this back to the SATs…Asher Roth is to Eminem as Loon is to Mase. LOL. I will admit that Asher Roth’s album has quality production…it’s much better as an instrumental album – but dude is annoying. He reminds me of the 25 year old kid that thinks he is 18. Or the 40 year old man that thinks he is 25.

As for his “nappy headed hoes” comment, it wasn’t funny or appropriate when Don Imus said it and it isn’t funny when Asher Roth says it. As an adult – especially an adult that makes a product for an audience that is cognizant of inappropriate racial behavior – he knows better. His immature, childish, ignorant, and stupid twitter response is a reflection of his personality and his music. His lack of response or addressing the issue also demonstrates his lack of compassion or understanding of his audience. Of course, he will never understand because he will never be black or a woman or a black woman. I will never give him a pass either – he is not some 15 year old kid just repeating things thinking he is funny. He is a 20-something year old adult that clearly doesn’t understand the implications of his comment.

Call me sensitive – I don’t care – but he was out of pocket. And if I were his “black” friend – then I would let him know that he crossed the line.

So, I don’t blame Reecie for not being interested. His first impression lost him a potential fan. That’s not Reecie’s fault – that’s Asher’s fault and problem.

Reecie – I didn’t mean for us to get off topic. I was just wondering what you guy thought of Asher Roth. Since he was a new artist making noise I was wondering if you liked his music or thought he was a credible artist?

One reason I come to this site is because I’m a fan of your reviews. I’m interested in not just hearing new music, but your take on it.

You guys haven’t really post an article about Asher Roth and I was just wondering was it because you didn’t like him, didn’t know about him, or haven’t gotten around to it. For the most part you guys made it clear on who you like (Beyonce, Usher, Bobby V, Barack Obama) and who you hate/don’t like (50 Cent, Eminem, Sarah Palin, and now Asher Roth). The same way Jamaican Woman made it clear on who she likes (Neyo) and hate (white people).

As for the comment – I could be wrong, but we haven’t had a discussion here for a while. We didn’t really talk about Jamie Foxx comment about Miley Cyrus, Rick Ross fueding with 50, Asher Roth nappy comment, so I just figured you just wanted to keep the conversation about the music. I think the last discussion we had was about Chris Brown beating up Rihanna.

The Honorable – Interesting take on Asher. I do think his album have a little bit more to offer than those two songs, but nice mini review on him. I agree the production to his album is nice. He isn’t the best rapper out there, but when you have rappers like Soulja Boy, Rick Ross, Jim Jones at the top of the charts Asher doesn’t seem so bad. At least in my opinion.

    • May 12th, 2009 at 10:51 pm

Let me clarify something. The mind boggles how you can be so oblivious to the things you write. Either you don’t care or you know nothing. Which is it? Whether you cared or cared not for Asher Roth is not the point (obviously you hate the guy – i mean that was obvious from the get go- numerous readers called you out- and then revealed by your tantrum). You looked clumsy trying to defend yourself and your said boycott which is what this is all about. Why you chose to answer the way you did to a specific question from Stallion about his album (being bangin) is beyond me. For someone who appears to be intelligent, it came off as a catty remark filled with indignation (the kind I expected from someone else on this forum).

Your comments are far from out of context – rather you are indirectly referencing and making an assumption about his music, whether you want to admit it or not, on the determining factor of the twitter thing alone. The two things are one and the same. An attack on an artist is an attack on his artistry and that’s how it was played out. If he is blacklisted, shouldn’t Eminem also be sidelined and condemned or do you overlook that too or any other black rapper degrading women today?

Now let’s look at this Jamie issue because it’s the same thing all over again. Do you see a pattern? The hypocrisy? Personally, I feel that you are giving way too much credit to Miley (she is superficial, highly aware of what she is doing and her own making, abrasive and requires a beating for taking our generation decades back with her foolishness) but that’s just my own personal view. When you are in the eyes of the public, you’re fair game. It’s not like she’s innocent at all. Hardly. Cloaking her because of her age is a disgrace – today’s 16 year olds are highly intuned with what is going on and will voice that way.

The point is whatever shit you are going through at the moment is undeniable because its coming across in your writing in spades- the negativity and ebonics – its been that way for awhile. Music shouldn’t have to feel this laboured.

    • May 13th, 2009 at 11:22 am

lol…wow Vic you really need to get a life. It’s a shame that you spend so much time making shit up about what I supposedly believe. You attach so much strong emotion to what you think I’m saying when in reality I’m not even thinking about any of this shit you are spending all this time analyzing. Now I “hate Asher Roth”? LOL are you kidding me? What part of “I don’t care about him” do you not understand? That is not an ambiguous statement. You aren’t even being rational. But to simplify things let me make it clear to you so you can spare yourself all these long tirades- I don’t give a fuck about Asher Roth, I don’t give a fuck about what you have to say, I don’t give a fuck about any of this petty shit you are talking about. I’m a grown woman who is taking care of my business and this blogging shit is a hobby for me. I don’t get paid to do it, I do it for the love of doing it so all your shit talking is just going in one ear and out the other. Like I said…if you don’t like what I’m doing then kick fucking rocks. It really is just that simple. If you want to contribute to the conversation then you are more than welcome to but all your little stupid ass personal insults are so futile because you don’t know me or know shit about me. Don’t get the game twisted thinking otherwise.
