Watch: Solange- T. O. N. Y.

Solange has a new video for her song “T.O.N.Y.”. I actually really like this. This is the first time that Solange has dropped all the over the top styling and the whole 60s Supremes act and just did her own thing. one of my complaints about her is that her image seems too contrived, but I’m digging what seems like the authentic Solange. The song is great and the video is pretty clever. The whole sitting on the toilet thing was a little odd, but I’ll give her a pass since it made sense in the context of the song and the plot of the video. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to this song and I can see this potentially being a big hit. Thumbs up!

What do you guys think of the video? Isn’t it nice to finally see a more personal side of Solange rather than her just playing dress up? Have you ever had a T.O.N.Y. that made you want to kick yourself?

I F-ing loved it, been feeling this song for a min. & was stoked when I Heard she was going to do a vid. for it. I was giving her the side eye when she was on the toilet but it all made sense in the end & alot of girls can relate cause the song is about having a one night stand with a T.O.N.Y. & Having a unplanned baby from it

she’s very bold for putting this out here
and we all know how Daddy Knowles is making the family
look like perfect Christians with morals

Solange is the blacksheep ha ha
this is real music which we are CLEARLY Lacking now a days & she’s an amazing song writer

I thought it was a very nice and cute vid…the song is nice too. Solo is really trying to step out of her sister’s shadow….still not a big enough fan to buy her music.

and YES to your question….like why the hell!!!!

So this is thee song I put on repeat when I first got her CD. The lyrics are clean, the melody is dope, the vibe is cool. Now, the second time listening to this song, I figured out that T.O.N. meant The Other Night… but is the “Y” just used to spell TONY? Or does it mean something? The video didn’t even help: “Y: ????”

    lol.

Anyways, thanks for posting this. I just fell in love with the song again. =]

And someone needs to tell that girl when you piss on your hands - don’t rub your fingers through your hair a million times while still on the toilet.

1 for solange! Too bad this came out during Beyonce’s return. This should have been the 2nd single.

Yeah Ryan that is pretty unsanitary! I wondered why they didn’t put the toilet seat down and have her sit on top of that. It would’ve been less gross and it still would’ve gotten the point across.

As far as the Y, I think the Y just means why? Like “damn why did I do that”. Anyway…I forgot to mention this in the post but I love how “TONY” just sits there looking totally crushed the entire video. The picture at the end was a really nice, cute, and personal touch.

Totally digging this.. Solange is fresh and funky and if she keeps doing her thing she could go far. Just one note to viciuzurban - why are you comparing her to Beyonce when they make different music? I am not the biggest fan of either of them but I respect their music for what it is.

I just listened to her album for the first time today and I love this song. The video was weird at first but ended up making sense.

I don’t think Beyonce time is over yet because people are still obsessed with her even though this new album is pretty much wack but Solange is going to get better and have a completely different following since B is moving more towards pop.

I’ve had a whole fuckin relationship I regretted, fuck one night.
