Listen: Jay-Z- History

Ok so I posted this song yesterday but for some reason a few of my posts disappeared…which is pretty effing annoying. Anyway that’s my rant for the day. Jay-Z has a new song “History” featuring Tony Williams. Despite how it sounds the song is not about Obama, it is about how Jay-Z has topped the Hip Hop game. I really like this song…it’s nice to see Jay-Z represent his more mature, reflective, accomplished side and not just his ability to make some of the hottest club bangers. I think in just about all of Jay-Z’s records now he kind of marvels at his own success. Whether you call that arrogance or legit introspection, I think he has earned the right to do so. I’m interested in seeing what direction the Blueprint 3 ends up in. Right after Nas’ marriage to Kelis he came out with the double album “Streets Disciple” in which the entire second album was essentially an artistic chronology of the evolution and even foreshadowing of that relationship. Perhaps it wouldn’t be the most popular thing to do, but I would like to see something along those lines from Jay-Z. Click here to listen

What do you guys think of this song? Which type of Jay-Z track do you prefer, the club banger or the songs with an epic feel like this or Encore? Do you think Jay-Z could pull off an album that reflects the life he is living as a legit business mogul and married man or would that flop miserably?

Look like Jay Z is going to add another classic album under his belt. I was a big fan of American Gangster and now I’m feeling good about this album.
