Watch: Jazmine Sullivan- Bust Your Windows

Jazmine Sullivan has a new video for her song “Bust Your Windows”. Can you say ladies anthem? lol. Jazmine’s voice is absolutely incredible…a song like this could easily be trite and corny, but she has such a powerful voice that the emotion and heartache shines through. In strictly dramatic terms, I think she could’ve taken it a step further and got all Angela Basset in Waiting to Exhale on it…but I’m assuming that her video budgets don’t afford her the ability to actually destroy a BMW just for sh!ts and giggles. Nonetheless, I love the video…this goes much further than her first video in putting her in the spotlight. For the record I’m not for defacing people’s property, but like the adage goes…hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

What do you guys think of the video? Is Jazmine on the road to being a R&B star? Have you ever destroyed someone’s property or items out of revenge? Do you think some people deserve to get their a$$ handed to them? What do you guys think sends a more effective message…revenge or walking away with your head held high?

  1. haha. Love it.

I’ve never destroyed anyone’s property nor do I intend to. Revenge isn’t really my style. And while its more probably that ppl may be out there hitting people with a pocketbook, I like this better as a destruction song (still have love for j.hud).

I dont think I’m going on too far of a limb to say destroying a car is often on the top of a woman’s thought list when thinking of ways to enact revenge. Thanks to movies like Waiting to Exhale and that hilarious scene in Barbershop and even Carrie Underwood it’s pretty much a part of the thought process. I’ve sat in war councils where keying and punching tires were contemplated(never busting windows). Sometimes people do deserve it.

The reduced budget also makes it more real. I feel like ppl that really threaten to bust windows end up doing less subversive acts like messing up a room or destroying some watches. It was a good call to get Sullivan out there. I really do hope she can become a big star. Marketing may have to step up and persistence will be key because talent alone doesn’t cut it.

I was anxious to see some window busting… I thought that’s where it was going to go being that’s the premise of the song. When we got the shot of the car and bike in the garage, I was sure it was about to be on… Slightly disappointed.

I’ve never destroyed another’s property and would never try to.

lol@ BklynQueen…”I’ve sat in war councils where keying and punching tires were contemplated(never busting windows). Sometimes people do deserve it.

That’s classic! I think it takes a lot of crazy and a whole lot of guts to go so far as to mess up someone’s car, but messing up someone’s house is probably a different story. There has only been one time in my life where I seriously want to take a crobar upside a dude’s head (and he really deserved it) but I didn’t have a crobar for one and I actually value my freedom so I just kept it pushing without much fanfare. I think if I can hold my composure through that…then there isn’t much that could ruffle my feathers. Plus, I don’t even like giving people the satisfaction of knowing they have the power to hurt or anger me…so I think being dignified is a better response.

i agree the premise and lyrics of this song couldve easily gone into the “ghetto hymn” category, but jazmines vocals saves it, and the orchestral beat gives it a more operatic feeling

lmao@ at the potential this song has to urge chics to wild out and act reckless lol

i can just imagine the male versions of this song that are gonna start popping up ” I beat the break off dat ass…… for busting my car windows out” lol (disclaimer: i dont condone spousal abuse)

as much as i love jazmines voice and talent i think her album was a bit of a let down. considering half her album has been available on the internet/youtube for the last 8 months, i think the unreleased songs werent that great (save for a few). her album didnt really have a flow and the songs were disconnected and all over the place/genre. i thnk i listen to the bootleg songs from her previous record deal with jive more than the songs from “fearless”

    UHMMMMM Jermar hit the note.

Jazmine baby - i seen her on a good day - this video must have been a compilation of all her bad ones.

The fits were ridiculous, the video was weak… She rocked it with what she got.

I have this song on my phone so I can knock it anywhere I go… other than that the entire CD is weak… She could have been a Mary or a Keysh or a Hill… =[

I mad late on this one but most stations censor videos or have you re-edit them to exclude violence to personal property. They actually had to drop scenes from caroline of Big boi destroying garbage cans. So that’s probably why they don’t show it.

sisters wonder why brothas holla at white women, sisters are crazy these days. Hey sister it aint your window to be trying to bust, go get yo big ole ass in th e gym and take your anger out there instead of busting nigga stuff and feeding yo face.

Maurice…as usual you chime in with ignorant ass comments. It’s a damn song…don’t take it to the extreme of Black women vs. White women. I have a serious problem with anyone trying suggest that White women have a superior temperment or attitude to Black women. If a Black man wants to date a White woman that his business to do so, but there is absolutely no need to denigrate Black women in the process. I don’t know if you were trying to be funny or whether you were serious but it’s just fucking disgusting and totally uncalled for. Don’t be such a prick.

haha MM…well it is true im mean in general girls do a lot of crazy spiteful immature shit or at least think it and yeah, there are evil bi-polar girls out there. its all in the head, not the heart - just chalk it up as a learning experience and move on but yeah it all boils down to being more selective the next time . the red flags should have all been flashing.

how comes its alright for men to go on like they love a woman then play them or break their hearts but once a woman wants or just thinks of revenge their ‘crazy’…
im not ignorin the fact that there ARE crazy women out there though..but not ALL women that want revenge are crazy depends on how far they would go and whats been done to them..

male artists have done such type of songs or response songs in some form or dimension…i mean just ask r. kelly, that dude can flip it…usually its the type of songs about the gf being too hasty and jumping to the wrong conclusions, the ex still wanting to remain friends after the fallout, shit like that - you know the girl I was with the other night was my sister, trivial shit which clouds people’s judgment

    1. Prince - If I was your girlfriend
    2. JE - Girl It’s over
    3. Maxwell - As my girl
    4. 112 - its over now/ your letter etc.
    5. Eamon - fuck u (dont want you back)
    6. Brian Mcknight - till i get over you
    7. R Kelly - a woman’s threat/ when a woman’s fed up/suicide

Maurice is the biggest ASS ever!!! Assholes like you are the reason that good black men out their, aren’t respected out their in the first place. Keep dating them whities because their the ones who actually date black men like you all and then divorce yall asses and take then take away everything from yall.(Because of course, they gotta continue up on their botax applications) A sister stays by their man’s side no matter what! Get ya facts straight.

I’ve never gotten crazy on a guy before but if pushed to the test, I probably would, who knows…… Let’s put it this way……“ if I was married and my hubby slipped and bought home some diseases, I would beat the crap out of him or burn up his freaken assets” LMAO

As for the song, vid….let’s just say, Jaz held her own on it! I see bigger and better things for her in the future.
