Tina Fey and Queen Latifah Spoof VP Debate, Info on How to Register to Vote
On SNL Tina Fey and Queen Latifah spoofed the VP debate with Tina of course playing Palin and Latifah playing Gwen Ifil. The 11 minute skit was not as funny as the last two skits due to Biden’s lack of comedic fodder but it was still pretty funny. I thought the opening statement from Queen was spot on since it was totally obvious during the debate that Ifil had no intention of forcing Palin to answer her questions. The funniest line had to be Fey’s take on the “Hey can I call you Joe”, which I won’t spoil for you guys. Anyway, check out the latest installment of the Palin parody.
On another note, today is the last date in many states (but not all) to register to vote. I cannot stress how important it is to make sure that your voice is heard in this election. Every single vote counts and every vote for change is needed to get this country back on the right track. I don’t give a damn if you believe in your heart that your vote doesn’t count or that you can’t make a difference, you better get your ass out there and register to vote anyway! The stakes are too high and the consequences for complacency and apathy are too dire. So please, register to vote, and make sure that everyone you know is registered also. What do you guys think of the debate skit? Are you registered to vote? If not what are you waiting for? (Get registered!)

Oh how funny and scary at the same time!!! Making a mockery of her is actually way too easy. To allow her and her partner into the White House, to rule this country, would surely be the worst thing to happen to us. As bad as things are with the economy, the wars, and social issues…, the Republicans will only continue to make it worse.
I am registered to vote, and I am voting for Obama!
The crazy thing is…, tens of millions of people are going to vote to try and put Palin in office!!!
I’m just glad bringing back slavery is not up for a vote……….
If the election was held today Obama/Biden would WIN! Obama according to the polls is winning! Obama is winning in Ohio right now. That’s a huge huge huge deal. I believe in my heart of hearts that Barack Obama will and is going to be our next President of the United States and the first Black President. America is tired of the crap and we believe in this man and we believe he can turn things around.
On that note, the skit was hilarious! How she mocks Palin is eery and hysterical at the sametime. I thought Biden was funny.
If you are voting for the first time than you should be aware that you are not allowed to wear Obama t’shirt or anything endorsing someone who is running. From what I hear they are hoping that excited Obama voters don’t know about this. If you do show up wearing an Obama t’shirt then they could turn you away.
^At least this is what I’m told.
I loved the skit, but I do want to reply to your comment about Ifill and, in particular, Palin’s disregard of her questions. The moderator of the debate is akin to a referee, they keep the debate (relatively) on track and try to maintain the peace. The person who should’ve held Palin accountable to answering the questions was Biden. He didn’t, so she didn’t press the issue. But you could tell Ifill was none too pleased talking about Palin’s behavior on Meet the Press.
On a lighter note, I’m so elated that Obama is in the lead. Lets hope in the next debates he can pull further ahead or, at least, maintain the status quo. But I’m not gonna lie, I will be soooo relieved when election day comes around.
Oh and stallion, who told you that bs? Public endorsement of a candidate is not grounds for disfranchisement. Whoever told you that needs to be slapped.
What Stallion said is correct. You are not supposed to wear any kind of political gear into the polling place. No buttons, no shirts, no nothing. It is best to either remove any kind of political items or make sure they are covered up when going into the polling place.
However, they cannot invalidate your right to vote completely by wearing these things, only tell you that you have to remove the items before being allowed to vote.
As far as the role of the moderator…the moderator is supposed to hold each person accountable for answering the questions. Because of Ifil’s book I think she went way too easy on Palin out of fear of retaliation.
Reecie is right about the moderator and the voting rules. Ya’ll should listen to her, she’s a smart woman!!!
