Listen: Monica- Still Standing featuring Ludacris, Brandy- Right Here
Monica is back with a very personal song called “Still Standing” featuring Ludacris. Normally I would roll my eyes at someone releasing the cliche “I’m still here” type of song, BUT this is one of the few times where it doesn’t sound trite or whiny. I’m glad she choose a R&B/Dirty South/Almost Rock production for the track since it gives it more of an edge and keeps the song from sounding corny. Ludacris is a great addition to the song as well. Great song from Monica…but I bet this would be sick if Mary J sang it. Click here to listen
Brandy is also trying to make a comeback with her song “Right Here (Departed)”. Ehh…I’m not really jocking this one. However, this song is in line with the popular ballad sound dominating the airwaves right now so I expect that she will enjoy some success with this. I’m stilla huge Brandy fan so I’m looking forward to seeing what else she has in store. Click here to listen

I listened to bothof hese over the weekend and was very pleased. I really like Still Standing. The message of the song did it for me Saturday night.

Monica sounds like she might be working with better production crew than Brandy but this just doesn’t sound like a ‘hit’ to me even with Ludacris’ ole annoying ass. And I love my girl Brandy but this shit just flat out sounds like it DIDN”T make it onto Full Moon or Aphrodisiac. Its very hard to believe that this is a ‘new’ song that she is staging her comeback with. I’ll wait for the remixes on both……..
Feelin that commentary on Monica’s song… 100%, i hate the “Still here” songs… but Monica did a nice twist. I love that girl, her heart really is in it. She’s an OG!!!! Why Rappers get more respect the older they get but R&B singers get the boot! They tryin to kill off Monica, Mariah, and Brandy! Old bitches need better material though! HAHA!
