Watch: Solange- Sandcastle Disco

Solange has a new video for her song “Sandcastle Disco”. She sticks with the retro look/theme and adds some really cute animation to her video to bring the song to life. I like this video and the song is light and fun like her other single “I Decided”; but I just wish that she came across a little bit more authentic. This whole vibe she has feels a little contrived to give her a glamorous and grown up image. Even when I saw her in concert, she gave a great performance but she just looked and came across as a girl playing dress up. At any rate…I still give her cool points for being in her own lane right now and bringing something fresh to the scene.

What do you guys think of the video? Do you think this whole image is natural for her or is she trying too hard to be different?

I can’t think of the name, but I just loved that last soulful single she had. I think she might make some noise as a solo artist.

it has a really good summertime vibe

  1. I loved the video when I first watched it. She’s keeping herself out there in a good way, even with crazy fans jumping on stage with her. I really like God Given Name, but I’m not sure theyll release that as a single.

i’m a little late….but i love this song, just as much as “I Decided”. i think Solo is naturally unique, but then again, we have to remember that her sister’s image was also very contrived and manufactured. the difference between her and her sister is that Solo actually gives us a glimpse of her personality while Bey is just a true performer (not revealing much in the way of personal character)

I like the special effects. The song is pretty good too but come on, did you see her? She made bricks outta thin air!?!?!

Even though I always thought sandcastles got either washed away or kicked over I still had an appreciation for her metaphor. Cute song, busy video, nice style.
