Hate It or Love It: The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight premiered last Friday and set a new record for best opening weekend. I wouldn’t say that I was a part of the hype, but I was definitely looking forward to seeing it and…I LOVED IT! Heath Ledger was amazing in that movie (totally not over-rated) and I’ve always been a fan of Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman. The plot was excellent, the action was pretty good, and the acting was top notch for an action flick. The one gripe I have is that it was a little bit too long. The problem isn’t so much that my attention waned during the movie, but the length kind of makes some things anti-climatic. For instance, you know Batman isn’t going to die 30 minutes into the movie, so the sense that anything can happen at any moment isn’t really there for a few select scenes. However, there were enough twists and turns to warrant the full 2 and half hours. If you haven’t seen it, you definitely should check it out.

Did you see the movie this weekend? What did you think? Hated or loved it?

That movie was GREAT!!! I didn’t even realize how long it was till it got closer to the end and I was like come on now but it wasn’t a bad thing. I was just tired of trying to figure the whole thing out! LoL. My friend and I were trying to think of who could POSSIBLY fill Ledger’s shoes in the next movie OR if there shouldn’t be a Joker in the next one. They can’t have a half ass Joker in the next one after Ledger gave the performance he did. Def award worthy!

I loved it. I also agree with you about the length of the movie. However, the excellent acting made up for it. I thought Heath Ledger did an amazing job!!!

Heath Ledger did an amazing job. They did a great job balancing out the characters. It wasn’t like one character got the chance to shine more than another one.

Reecie - I have a new guessing game you can add to your blog. The Guessing game is how many time will DMX be arrested by the end of the year.

lol…Stallion he is really getting ridiculous. He needs to be in some sort of rehab for a very long time. He must have some serious psychological issues in addition to his obvious drug problem.

I thought he was great too, I wonder if this role had anything to do with his death? I did not mind the length of the film but Batmans voice was hilarious.

    Classic

Well when Heath first died there were reports that he got so immersed into his role as Joker, that he had trouble sleeping and things of that nature. Considering that he died of an overdose of sleeping pills it isn’t a stretch that there might have been a connection there.

  1. I could see that being that case….cause he played a pretty convincing role….great movie

  2. I’ll have to go and see this movie this weekend. I thought that Ledger was a very good actor too. Was very saddened by his untimely death.
    (May he rest in peace)

i really liked this movie— & i am most def NOT a comic book fan. But thats just it, it didnt feel like a comic book movie, it felt like a real drama, which just happened to have action in it. I hate to be redundant but Heath ledger gave such an awesomely believable performance

My only gripes were Batman’s RID-damn-Diculous voice, with christian Bale’s slight lisp, it was just tooo much— it was so distracting (did he have something in his mouth (i kept thinking “is something in his mouth” thus being distracted lol.

And maggie gylenhall (sp) although a great actress, she was just an odd choice to play the love interest/damsel in distress. lets face it, and i know this might sound completely shallow but isnt that role usually cast with a beautiful woman, and ummm Maggie…. just isnt in my opinion.

  3. yizer, I saw it first night
I had it planned since I enjoyed the first movie.
I think was one of the best “comic book/superhero” type movies….
Heath should win award for his role…..he played Joker more sinister than normally…..but I actually like the transition from deranged to sinister/maniacle
    Some fans gripe about that…

The movie was great. Heath Ledger did a great joke. Give him a nomination for an Oscar.

    My predictions:

    1) Two-Face didn’t die, and will be back
    2) Rachel didn’t die, and may come back as like Catwoman or something
    3) The commissioners son will be Robin

Jermar I didn’t notice a lisp! But I was a little surprised at Batman’s voice when I first heard it. I didn’t see the first Batman Movie with Christian Bale so I didn’t know Batman was going to sound like that.

I thought Maggie was an odd choice for the lead, but she did a great job anyway. Katie Holmes is a complete RETARD for turning down the part.

Anyway…Q…I’m betting you will be 0 for 3 in your predictions.

The voice was straight out the cartoon. That’s how Batman used to sound all the time.

I’ll be at least 2 out of 3 Reecie.

Ir rachel dawes is alive and comes back as Catwoman, they might as well have batman dance like some drunken emo punk during the middle of the movie because the film will be pretty much ruined. Rachel Dawes isn’t Catwoman, Selina Kyle is Catwoman who is a completely different character in Batman Lore. Equally ridiculous would be to make Gordons son become Robin. Gordon’s daughter does become the original Batgirl though.

As the king of an amoral universe, as a purveyor of unrestricted evil for fun, Ledger’s dastardly villain, attired as sort of a rotting Clarabell, has chosen his own damnation. He’s jumped into an abyss he has dug himself, and he wants to pull us along.
