The 2008 BET Awards Liveblogging Recap Plus Performance Videos

Usher started off the 2008 BET Awards with a bang with one the most rousing renditions of “Love In This Club” I’ve seen him do. He had the choreography, sex appeal, pyrotechnics…just about everything except live singing. I’m actually willing to give him half a pass on not singing live since it was just nice to see some semblance of the old Usher.

D.L. Hughley is hosting this year and actually managed to be funny and not totally offensive. So far though, I still prefer Monique or Steve Harvey to DL as host.

Terrence Howard and JHud did a saucy little routine without sounding or looking totally uncomfortable and contrived. Anyway…they presented “Best Male R&B”…I’m rooting for Raheem DeVaughn even though I know it’ll never happen. Chris Brown wins…he hopped up hella quick before he could get a hug or a handshake from Rihanna…ya’ll can stop fronting any day now.

Young Jeezy is up performing “Put On”…how did he get his own performance spot? He is literally boring me to tears, and I really hope that this isn’t going to be Kanye’s only performance. Speaking of Kanye he came out and just said “F*&k the censors” and used more expletives in 1 one minute than he did on his entire album lol. For the record, there are still “b!tches that owe [him] sex” in case you didn’t catch his drift the first 10 times he screamed it. Yeezy was a little unhinged tonight, but then again that is part of his charm. I hate to say it, but this was a thumbs down.

Click continue reading for lots and lots more.

Kevin Hart and Mel B were cute together. Kevin Hart is beyond hysterically funny…I’ve seen him perform several times and every time my stomach hurts from laughing so hard. Kobe Bryant won best athlete but he wasn’t there…womp womp. I always thought it was retarded to honor someone who can’t bother to show up.

Keyshia Cole’s family cleaned up nicely, even if Neffie could barely get through the cue cards. Her mom was adorable though…nothing better than a proud mama.

Keyshia Cole looks very pretty…I’m loving her hair, but damn she is sounding hella shaky. I mean wow…she is really cracking under pressure…she can’t figure out whether to dance badly or sing badly. Thank God Lil Kim came out and saved her performance…and thank God they didn’t do any closeups of Lil Kim’s face. Where is Missy? I know she doesn’t have anything better to do other than perform a year old song at the BET Awards. That was really, really, really bad. I hope she does a better job at the Essence Festival. Get it together boo.

It is hysterical watching Cuba Gooding Jr trying to be “down”. You need more people. Nia Long looks fabulous but I’m not feeling the bald Morris as much.  Oh yeah and how funny was the intro “Hot female, hot mic, hot comb”? Most of the females in the Best Female Rap Category suck, but I am rooting for Missy Elliott and she won. Again I ask, where in the hell is Missy at? I would think with a new song she would be there promoting.

Ne-Yo takes the stage to perform “Closer”. He is singing live and he sounds good. I can’t say I’m in love with the song, but this performance is much better than I expected. He is working out the whole Michael Jackson Man In The Mirror vibe. Did he just get a cameo from the Jaba Wockeez? Cool! Hot performance!

Ashanti and LL Cool J sounded awkward as hell. Best New Artist I’m rooting for the Dream and the winner is…the DREAM! Umm…WTF? Don’t tell me he thought he had something better to do other than accept his award. Womp womp…he is wack for that one.

Alicia Keys is up and thank goodness she is performing the fun “Teenage Love Affair” and not doing the 100th performance of “No One”. I’m loving her hair!  Whaaaaaaat….she brought out SWV? How random…but hot! “Weak” is and always be the jam! Whaaaaaat En Vogue? Oooh snap. They clearly held up better than SWV lookswise. Whaaaaat TLC? That’s a nice move too…but damn T-Boz sounds horrible. Overall…I love the concept of bringing out all of these classic girl groups, but too bad bootsy ass BET couldn’t get it together on the sound tip (or did all of these women just totally fall off in their singing voices?)

Part 1 of Alicia’s Performance

Part 2

I’m going to give a slow clap to Niecey Nash for not wearing a flower in her head for once…but for the most part her routine was not very funny. Best Male Hip Hop artist…I gotta go for Kanye West (duh)…but the competition is stiff. KANYE wins!!!! Unfortunately we don’t get to see a freak out lol. He brought up Lil Wayne…that’s big of him.

F*%king dingbat Baldwin HIlls chick read the “dot, dot, dot” from the teleprompter…lmao! Classic. Will someone get this child help and tell her next time that the “…” means pause for a second then continue reading.

T-Pain’s set is off to a really bizarre start. I would not consider T-Pain a ring leader…he is more like a clown (awww that was mean huh? Ok well not a clown all the time, just a clown when he is performing, better?) He is blackface without the black paint (if you’ve seen him in concert you would definitely feel me). Flo-Rida? Yes the song is catchy and hot, but couldn’t we have gotten the real Nelly instead of the bootleg version? Rick Ross ughh…he needs a shirt on ASAP. DJ Khaled looks like a baby blue M&M. Big Boi brings the hotness…even though it would be better if his mic was turned up. Ludacris takes it up another notch…super hotness.

Gabrielle Union looks fab…no comment on Derek Luke. Best Video should go to UGK for “International Players Anthem” even though I love the “Good Life” video too…and they won! Woooo…I’m on a roll here with my picks tonight.

Gospel time is here…so it is time for some real singing. Marvin Sapp does a fantastic job. I’m loving the photo montage in the back…simply beautiful! I love, love, love, love, love, looooooove how the montage ended with Barack and Michelle Obama…yes we are glad about it and yes we can! THAT is the kind of image I want to see being uplifted in the Black community. Marvin Sapp picked up the award for Best Gospel Artist.

Chris Brown is up and he sounds ok, but his voice is fading in and out which sounds a little awkward. He should’ve gotten background singers to strengthen the sound. Hold up…is that Ciara? That choreography was crazy and super raunchy R-rated. It’s not everyday you see a woman’s crotch in a man’s face on National TV (note: I know she isn’t literally sitting on his face, but it is still a pretty graphic stance). Other than the collab dance part it was a very underwhelming performance.

They really could’ve picked a better group to deliver the message that people need to register to vote (and more importantly vote for Barack Obama)…but Brandon’s interruption of Cassie’s “we’re not telling you who to vote for with “yes we are, Barack Obamaaaaaaaa” was pretty hilarious. I’m rooting for Kanye West and T-Pain Best Collaboration…and yaaay he wins! Hot! I wouldn’t have been mad at Keyshia Cole winning since that was the ladies anthem. WTF kind of crack is T-Pain smoking? This Kanye speech is much more entertaining…lol @ “I’m one of the kings in this game right now so my opinion counts”. I gotta say I love T-Pain’s self deprecating humor (or is he just being a buffoon again? Hmmm).

Al Green is getting honored and I gotta say for the record that my fav record of his is “I Can’t Get Next To You”. Hey now…the newly engaged Jill Scott (congrats to her) is up singing “Still in Love” and tearing it up. Anthony Hamilton is up…and I’m digging the cleaned up look he is going for (will someone tell Lyfe Jennings to follow his lead?) He does a pretty good job singing “Tired of Being Alone” but he shows that nobody can do it better than Al Green…but now that I think about it Raheem DeVaughn could’ve definitely tore this song up. Whaaaaaaat…Maxwell? Oh snap…where has he been? I’m melting as I type listening to him…puuuuhleeeaze get this man in a studio like yesterday.

Al Green takes the stage and performs with “Let’s Stay Together”. He is sounding hella hoarse, but I’m still enjoying the pro do it. Hey now…he still has that high note…go ‘head Al. Up now is “Love & Happiness”…break it dooooown!

The Viewers Choice award goes to Lil Wayne which is not surprising considering he just sold 1 Million albums.

Rihanna is up now performing “Take A Bow”.  I love that dress and she sounds really good. I still think she sounds better live than on TV/record…but you’re just going to have to take my word for it. How cute was it that Chris was singing along with her song?

Quincy Jones is receiving the Humanitarian Award. Unlike some people have been honored for pretty minor acts, this award is totally well-deserved. That was a pretty great introduction by Queen Latifah.

Ashanti hoobanging on DL Hughley to introduce Nelly was hilarious…but hmmmm…was she low key confirming that her and Nelly are getting engaged (like the Mediatakeout rumor posted today said)? She said she was supposed to perform “Body On Me” but traded for something else because she has that “Good Good”. If you have her album then you would know that “good, good” refers to putting it down and keeping a man on lock. At any rate I’m not mad at Ashanti.  Nelly is looking damn good without a shirt. Ciara managed to appear on stage twice without singing one note. Ciara please take notes from Fergie on how to move your lips and make sound come out at the same time. Overall…hot performance.

Do we really need to hear Lauren London and Diddy compliment each other? Absolutely not. But…I’m not mad at his voting registration/Obama plug. lol@ toasting “To our Blackness. Black is beautiful”. I’ll toast to that!!! Best R&B Female Artist…I would root for Mary J. Blige but her album was mediocre. The award goes to Alicia Keys…definitely well-deserved. I’m loving this celebration of Blackness…can I get an Amen? This is something we definitely don’t get everyday.  Thumbs up for her “eliminating the word can’t” statement and of course her shout out to Obama. Represent!

Oh lawd, here we go with T-Pain again lol. Hmmm….I’m confused about why Lil Wayne would start out with whatever song that was considering all of the smashes he has. Finally he gets to “Lollipop”…there isn’t much to his performance, but I’m still kinda digging it. I could do without the shirtless Weezy, but his “A Milli” performance is fire! Hot!

So that is it…overall a pretty good show. I don’t think anyone was spectacular…but I was entertained the entire time. BET needs to work on their sound issues because that effed up a few performances…work it out Black folks. Best performance of the night would have to go to Al Green. The performance with the most unfulfilled potential goes to Alicia Keys and her tribute to the girl groups. If everyone’s voice/the sound was on point then it would’ve been really spectacular. Worst performance goes to Keyshia Cole. Oh yeah and BET also needs to get it together with the camera work…the lack of closeups really took away from some of the performances. But…I’m signing off…share your thoughts folks.

Who had the best performance? The worst? Who was your fav presenter? How did the show rate overall?

  1. hahah - great job with the live blog. i wish i had cable to join you. cant wait to see youtube clips.

  2. I really enjoyed this years awards the best!
The only award that I got right, was the viewer’s choice awards and best new artist.
I was surprised that Chris won, because everybody they interviewed earlier, was going for Ne-yo. I thought he or Raheem was going to win.
The best hip hop male artist for this year, hands down, should have went to Weezy!Still loving Kanye though.
I also thought that Rihanna or kyesha was going to win best r and b female artist.Congrats to Alicia though.

All the performances were very good.I loved Marvin Sapp, and Alicia Keys performance, but the best performances for the night were Al Green/fellow artists and Ne-yo and hands down,Weezy!
Ne-yo sure can dance and Weezy was on fire, for real!

All and all,I give this awards two thumbs up on performances and one thumb up for awards !

Ps: the aftershow,so far is wackish! Can’t they get some more artists on it yo.We’ll see.

Ps:Rihanna and Chris look so cute together. She had on the best dress for real.

  3. Reecie,I enjoyed Ursher’s performance too but I just wish he changed it up a bit.He keeps doing the same routine, over and over again. The dancing with the female dancer’s in the back ground is becoming to repetitive .
Usher came harder when he and his male dancers performed.

When Ne-yo performed with his male dancers,it made him look “swaggerlishous”!
It made him come hard. It was different, and it added to his performance.

Ps:you should have seen Ne-yo at the Alicia concert,he was even better,in a way.And he sings better than Chris and Usher does live.

Cuba Gooding Jr trying to be “down”. You need more people. … ha ha.. great quote..

thehonorable,…. hilarious (but you may have college loans or just moved, so no hate)

Jaba Wockeez performance addition was hot… i did not really watch the show like that but from what i saw, they are really good.

    T-Boz did sound pretty bad

dot, dot, dot…. I did not even catch that…. oh..i have to watch the youtube when it is out.

Rick Ross without a shirt had me dieing

Best video should have gone to Kanye - good life

Marvin Sapp sung the hell (pun intended) out …. of that song

Ciara & chris brown was super ill…(but short) …but i thought they were bring back BET Uncut… Ciara was not at his head, but the camera angle (i am sure it was intended) made it look like some oral interpretations were going on.

t-pain should have won an award just for being on EVERY collab song

    I’m glad they honored QJones

….Whats up with Maxwell with no fro, thats like t-pain without the audio effects. (good tribute and performance by al green

lil wayne’s perfomance was just okay… maybe they should have had a better performer for the closing act.

where was: Mary J, the dream, missy, jay-z?

Thanks the honorable…I am too tired to hit the BET after parties tonight, so I decided to make myself useful by liveblogging.

I’m doing this live so till haven’t gotten to some of the performances you guys have mentioned…but I’ll be back with my thoughts.

Is their a tape delay for the west coast….? my bad

  4. yup - there is a 3 hour delay when they air it on BET on the west coast. But by the time the award show is over in the east coast, we are in the clubs for the after party. Even though I am not partying tonight.

Thanks, Reecie! You did it big last night!

  5. Thanks for blogging it. I look forward to watching the recaps before they get removed. I’m excited by the girl groups reunion, but couldn’t anyone find at least Total and Xscape..or was it just supposed to be the earlier ones?

and Marvin Sapp deserves an award even though I dont know who he was up against in the gospel category. His music definitely ministers.

Why were so many people missing? Is this slowly becoming the Soul train awards? No one was ever there for that. Ever.

    • Reecie
    • June 25th, 2008 at 12:58 am

Bklyn Queen…Total and/or Xscape would’ve been really hot! I think all these girl groups need to do a big tour and represent.

It is not as bad as the Soul Train awards yet lol. There were a lot of stars there, which is why it seemed so weird that people like The Dream couldn’t bother to show up. I think the BET Awards are becoming less of a big deal though. Out here there were half the parties there were last year and nobody seemed to really care much the Awards were in town.

JW- The after show was super wack…I turned it off after 15 minutes.

    • June 25th, 2008 at 1:09 am

alicia keys is beautiful and sexy…thats all i gotta say

    oh…
    & GO JABBAWOCKEEZ haha

  6. Reecie, Who is JABBAWOCKEEZ?
I watched the whole Ne-yo performance but I only saw Ne-yo and his dancers.

And it was really cute to see Chris singing “take a bow” along with Rihanna.I don’t think She liked when that dancer had her crouch over his face though. The camera man keep pointing the camera at Rihanna that time.It was hilarious to me!
Riri performance was very good though.

Rick Ross, shirt less was a hot mess! I Pray to Never See that Again!
Am sorry, but T-Pain,needs a Drastic Makeover. He Looked Like one of the Clowns in his circus act, even when he wasn’t in “costume”.

And how Wack, was Cassie! She’s soo dam stuck-up.Am glad, she got interrupted by,”Vote Obama”!(Hallelujah)
(solange looked cute, can’t believe am saying that)

I was kinda feeling Jeezy performance until kanye came on stage and totally took it over! He made Jeezy look like he (Jeezy)wasn’t even trying.(Sorry Jeezy)Kanye ordered everyone to stand up.(Thank God) they needed too.Good performance by Kanye.
And two thumbs up to kanye for bringing Weezy up on stage with him.
I enjoyed Weezy close out performance tremendously.”A Milli”,had everyone getting “crunk”.Hot!Hot!Hot!

Ps: Reecie I think that Ne-yo paid the camera man,for some camera time.Because he was on camera like every other minute yo!but am not complaining.lol
    Did you see that too?

And that “woman” that Ne-yo was sitting next to,holding on to,is Tenille his back-up dancer. The one who he took pics off, giving him head!
She is so in love with Ne-yo.That must have been some good head, because Ne-yo always be bringing her with him wherever he goes.
I need to get some lessons from her.lol. (Na,ill pass) She’s cute.

  7. Reecie,

When Chris was saying his acceptance speech. He was talking to someone in the audience saying that they deserved it has much as him.(or something to that affect)
    Who was He Talking About?
    Was he talking to Ne-yo?

Ps: I didn’t get to see or hear who he was talking to,my eyes had strayed away for a minute.Because if he was talking to Ne-yo, then where did that beefing rumor come fr!

    • Reecie
    • June 25th, 2008 at 9:11 am

    “Reecie, Who is JABBAWOCKEEZ?”

They were the winners of America’s Best Dance Crew.

“And that “woman” that Ne-yo was sitting next to,holding on to,is Tenille his back-up dancer. The one who he took pics off, giving him head!
She is so in love with Ne-yo.That must have been some good head, because Ne-yo always be bringing her with him wherever he goes.
I need to get some lessons from her.lol. (Na,ill pass) She’s cute.”

lmao…that is pretty hilarious. Well I guess there is no shame in her game since she was posing on the red carpet and everything. If Kim K and Paris can make a career out of a sex tape, I guess I can’t be too mad when a Black woman does it (well yes I can).

As far as Chris’s acceptance speech he said that everyone else in the category deserved it just as much as him.

The awards were all given to the artists who most deserved them. I’m especially glad that Bun B won for UGK, because that is the last time a song with Pimp C will ever be up for an award. I thought Kanye was fantastic- I love his energy and his passion, and unlike many rappers who have other people on stage rap half of the verse Kanye does it all by himself, no matter how much he is running around and breathless. I’m not really a Jeezy fan but I do like that song, mostly because of Kanye’s verse, but I was glad Jeezy brought a lot of energy, atleast compared to other performances of his that I’ve seen.

It was nice to see remnants of the old Usher and that he still can move, but my favorite part of him as a performer is his voice, and I just can’t stand lip-synching. His performance was hot, but I really just wanted to hear him sing out. I also would’ve liked to hear him do a split with “Moving Mountains”, because that is his new single and there is so much volume and passion in that song, and it would be great to hear that live.

Alicia sounded great, and I like her inclusion of the other groups, and I think atleast on “Heaven Sent” Keyshia sounded pretty good, and while her dancing was horrible it was nice to see that energy in her.

Ne-Yo was incredible, he sounded great, and I had no idea that he could dance like that. Particularly that flip ending with a slide.

Chris Brown dissapointed me, I know he can dance, but I wanted to hear him sing more. I think “Kiss Kiss” is more of a party song, but I think we’d all seen enough T-Pain. I wish he’d done “Forever” though instead of “Take You Down”.

The song that Lil Wayne started with is “Got Money”, it’s his new single, and its actually already pretty high on the Billboard charts. I thought that while there wasn’t much to his performance it was just about the music, and he definitely was into it and like Kanye especially in “A Millie” he rapped his heart and lungs out.

Also, I really appreciated all the Obama messages… the BET awards are the perfect venue for that.

I kind of expected Usher to perform the love in the club remix, but I guess Beyonce couldn’t make it to the show. During an interview on 106&park he made it sound like he would have a few surprise guest perform the song with him If you’re going to crown yourself the King and have people comparing the new king of pop You going to have to deliver and he didn’t deliver 100% It was a good performance just a little routine.

Alicia Keys - After hearing her new song on the radio for the first time and watching the performance it made me like it a lot more. IT was great to see those girl group. I loved seeing TLC.

Chris Brown - He was great. He lost a few points for not singing live the whole time. Ciara was looking good in that performance.

Neyo - Whenever I see an artist performing in a nice suit and wearing sneaker I think of Justin Timberlake. In my opinion he made that look big. His performance was great. It looked like he was giving a shorter time to perform compared to last time. That song closer is good and the more I hear it the more I like it.

Al Green - It was great seeing him in action. It was fun seeing eerybody in the crowd sing and dance to Let’s stay together.

Lil Wayne - I was wondering how he sounded live and for the most part he his good. He isn’t the best live, but good. Tpain sounded a little bit better singer live here than he did at the Hip hop honors award.

Rihanna aka my future ex wife was looking great. She had a great performance. A little surprise they let her perform because she isn’t exactly R&B.

Nelly - I like party people more. Fergie was great.

On the topic of Kanye’s performing, I also just came across this statement Kanye made yesterday from his blog in regards to showing up 2 hours late for his Glow in the Dark show the other day.

    http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/?em3106=196808_-1__0_~0_-1_6_2008_0_0&em3161=&em3281=

    Check it out.

  8. Fuck that bitch rihanna! she sucked buh i loved Chris’s performance… that was totally awsome and Ciara + Chris = the greatest couple… on stage only. i still think that Rihanna doesn’t deserve him…uuuh Usher was awsome too well i don’t like his new album buh his performance blew me away.

    Thanks.

  9. FYI:justin didn’t start that trend!And am going to have to look again,because I thought I saw Ne-yo wearing white flat shoes.But I could be wrong,wasn’t paying much attention,to his shoes,anyway!

this bet award was one of the best award shows i have seen in a while.. I must say alicia keys peformance bringin out t he old school i totally loved it. i was almost in tears when tlc came out god if left eye could have been out there….but they held it up for her and i think thats why tboz sounded the way she did. it seemed like she was tryin to hold some tears back. My baby chris brown got best male r&B i was excited he totally deserved it more than everybody else on there. Neyo for some reason seems to be feelin his ugly self a lil to much these days. I loved Al greens peformance i mean he was gettin down n maxwell looked so gorgeous. rihanna looked beautiful i so idol that girl.. she sung with attitude and her voice was lovely. I loved how chris brown sung along to the song like he wrote it lol..speakin of him his peformance probably wasnt wat we all expected i mean its chris brown but like he said.. its hard to do what u usually do when youve got like three people doing the same thing so he switched it up …made it classy with..with you then he made it sexc with take u down.. i love how rihanna just smiled n nodded when ciara had her freakin big ass butt in his face lol..but the host was pretty funny i usually dont like his jokes but he did a good job.. i was kind of shakey about the female comedian who did the joke about black people adopting white kids to give them publicity.. i dint think people would get it was a joke so i took a deep breath wen the crowd got it..but i loved this show i really did i give it as many thumbs up as possible even though i can only give it two,,but still i loved it

  10. Str8outtaplayground;

^ ant life a Bitch when haters like you hate on another woman, just because she’s beautiful and talented when you ant shit!
Rihanna is a very beautiful and talented woman. And Chris seems to think so,that’s why he’s with her and no other woman out their.
My advice to you,is to take a look in the mirror before you start calling someone a bitch!
FYI:Ciara is cute but certainly has nothing on Rihanna!

    @ ashley aka lilo,

Chris is a good singer but Not a better r and b singer than Ne-yo. And anybody who knows what r and b is,would tell you that. And has for Ne-yo being called ugly. That’s pure bs to me! Ne-yo is one of the most handsome man,out their period!
    Girl,get you some glasses!

Ps:no need for any of you to reply, because I don’t have anymore time for yall stupidity and lack of understanding.

I really liked the awards this time around. They need to stop trying to put on a production when they introduce the categories but other than that I think it was GrEaT over all. I’m going to copy Seaz’s layout:

Usher - Looked like someone’s daddy showing his kids what he used to do in the old days. Chris Brown was looking like ‘It’s nothin” LoL. I hope he doesn’t try to plan a concert with this CD…
Keyshia Cole - There is only ONE person that can sing flat (at times) and bust out some old lady dances and put on a hot concert at the same time. MJB. Anyone else that attempts it looks a hot donkey mess.
    Lil Kim - Kill yourself.
Ne-yo - Ne-Yo looks like a platypus. I was all about the JaBbAwOcKeEz!!!!
Alicia Keys - She always brings hella people on stage but she carries her own. I really liked the concept and I agree that Total and Xscape would’ve been hot! It was one of my favs.
SWV - E George’s wife looked like a Tranni. Coco sang like she wanted a contract and the light skinned one was…..
    En Vouge - LoVeD ThEm!!!
    TLC - Those pants….
Chris Brown - Wasn’t the best but he did better than Usher and wasn’t that the point….
Ciara - Did her thing. She has legs for days and she’s just 5′8″.I thought she was a cool 5′11″. I think I really like her when she’s quiet…
Anthony Hamilton - Even though his face was smooth those high wasted shiny slack have GOT to go. He’s can’t represent Charlotte like that!
Maxwell - Made my heart skip a beat. I didn’t think I was gonna make it work. All the needed to do was bring out an ‘untitled’ D’Angelo and I would’ve fell slam out!
TPain - Looks like a scary migician.
Nelly - I couldn’t watch that. I saw some pics though. Ciara and Nelly looked great. JD looked like….JD.
Wayne - He did a better job on the show F’N MTV but he was still crunk. He looked marginally high both times which was good. He was too high when he did Spring Bling so it didn’t work out that well.

  11. ^ Go back to the drawing board, because that was hella wack!

Ps:tell me when the joke comes……….

    Lil Kim - Kill yourself.”

lmao…hey at least MJB commits with her dance moves.

Fool’s Gold, you from Charlotte? Queen City here all day!

Well, I guess I’ll follow suit with my own recap of the performances/highlights:

Usher - He looked extremely tired & he wears the same hotAzz leather jacket & black pants in every single performance associated with this album. I’m really disappointed in the fact that he has allowed himself to become so…so…half-baked. The conveyer belt concept was pretty hot, but I was paying more attention to his dances than I was him.

Keyshia Cole - I’m glad she did something about those teeth…and as a whole, she looked very nice. Her singing, however, atrocious. Lil’ Kim’s horrific peek-a-boo induction into the performance did not help @ all. Her face is the definition of Fright Night.

Ne-yo - Its about time he had choreography that reflects HIM, not everyone else…b/c there was a period when he used to jack moves from Usher & Michael Jackson. Nonetheless, his performance was decent…too bad the Jabba Wockeez upstaged him on his own set.

Alicia Keys - She was very sexy and full of class. I loved the whole set-up and I enjoyed the fact that she brought out SWV, En Vogue, and TLC. SWV was aight…CoCo was singing as if she was one of the last American Idol contestants. En Vogue was kinda boring…I couldn’t really hear them. TLC…the bellbottoms…eeeeyyyy? But Chili STILL looks 19 and T-Boz struggled throughout the whole number.

Chris Brown - Performed that boringAzz song ‘With You’…thank God he had Ciara come out for the second half. I was completely WOW’D by the flawless choreography and the words in the waterfall. Truly put Usher to shame.

Maxwell - Is it me, or does he look like he has cancer?

TPain - God…this dude is a caricature! A modern day minstrel show. I can’t fully enjoy his performances — too much going on @ one time.

Kanye & Jeezy - Love the song…but cudn’t enjoy it for all the dayum bleeps and low-energy.

Al Green - I loved the whole ‘Black Family Reunion’esque quality of his performance w/the audience participation.

  12. Kanye killed it… yes, there are a lot of bitches who owe him sex. That’s probably the best line of the year. lmao
