Listen: Lil Wayne “Mr. Carter” featuring Jay Z

Lil Wayne and Jay-Z teamed up for “Mr. Carter”. The first thing that strikes me about this song is the production…I’m loving it. It’s like a more street version of Common’s “Come Close”. Anyway…I feel so totally redundant saying that Lil Wayne spits a hot verse and has crazy swag, but if the shoe fits. In the previous post I said it’s hard to not get out shined by Weezy…but for someone like Jay-Z of course there is no such problem. He brings a nice ontrast to Wayne’s style and his flow is so effortless. Overall a blockbuster team. Click here to listen
What do you guys think of this track? Isn’t it safe to say that Jay-Z is officially not salty about Weezy saying he is better than him a year or so back?
Posted by Reecie

honestly…cousin Jay ripped it up…sorry weeezy…HOVA rains supream!!!!
Reecie, Weezy is HOT,HOT,HOT!
Thank you for doing this blog, because of it,I was able to view Weezy in a different way,and give him the credit, that he deserved ,as being the hottest rapper, next to Kanye out their right now!
Loving Weezy on this song.
He totally outshines J “in my opinion”!
This young man has evolved, but it is only due to, and must give credit to the colorful underground-fan-base. They have now reached light and delivered this aquired taste that is Weezy-Baby to the mainstream masses. They delivered this rapper to ultimate supremacy. Ala the crowd singing “Hey Mr. Carter” in the background…
That being said, when Jigga rapped I didn’t want him to stop… they cut him off a little too early, regardless of the fact that the song is 5 minutes long.
And thaaaaaaat being said - this says something - Lil Wayne still aint rainin on Jay-Z, he’s just a cloud floating under the stars right now.
just blaze produced that track. jay breathes fresh air into the track obviously he spit the better verse….listening to carter III right now…got money has got to be the worst track ever made
*MRS OFFICER*
VU, thanks for the NE-YO link!
Appreciate it bro.
Good god, the leak of this album is so damn confusing that I’ma have to buy the real thing.
This song is…fucking…classic.
So kill me.
Could someone please help me to understand, what is meant…. when you say Lil Wayne is the Hottest. What are his skills as a Rapper? you know, turn me on to some of his best songs, because i ain’t heard much that was hot(Beetle juice)from Wayne.
For every single post made on this site about Weezy, we have 3 types of people that post the same thing about Weezy and how he run things right now:
First one is normally the people crazed and amazed or you could say the people that “GET IT” and by that I mean what it is that Weezy does. The guy may not be the best lyricist ever, but he is on top of his game when it comes to delivery. For things he does, he makes sure he do them right.
Then We have the haters, who just hate because Weezy is just hot right now and he doing it real big and they just don’t get it. Which is OK because if you haven’t yet gotten it, you might as well keep hating as the man’s money keep piling up.
And then finally, my favorite kind of people. These are people who have no interest in the guy or rap for that matter, but will appear in all Weezy posts just to talk about how they don’t get what it is that Weezy does and why he is so hot. Well its a little late for anyone to be given someone school-rap lessons if they aren’t familiar with Weezy’s work.
Oh and by the way, am copping this on day. Onasis out.
^lol which one do u fall in? who says u need to rap to like his stuff. Im a fan but no hater. telling the truth is not hating. HATE as a word is overrated. C3 is by no means a classic but it aint trash either. couple bullshit verses here and there and mumbling but crazy production thoughout. hope its legit. 3Peat, Mr/Dr. Carter, Tie My Hands with Robin Thicke, Mrs. Officer, Misunderstood and Shoot Me Down are all solid.
Definitely not hater, I fall in the crazed fans category..:).
onana? what nationality is that? the talk about C3 is crazy man everywhere and on every blog. its funny b/c dude was never talked about around cash money’s prime and now he’s on the tongue of every tom dick and harry. lets face it if Hov or any other rapper came out with C3 everyone would be praising it.
Thats a nickname but am African-American. Gotta agree with you man, the hype is crazy and hater are on up trying to kill the hype before the song is even out. Am sure if this album was to come out last year, Kanye would have murdered it but Weezy would have definitely outdone 50 in terms of sales.
Also, I was watching MTV MC’s rank who the hottest rapper is in the industry right now. It’s funny because even though Weezy has not made an album for over a year and change now, he was at number one and after disagreements he made it to the third place with Kanye having a well deserved number place with Hova at 2.
there’s no question that lil wayne mixtape game makes him the hottest rapper out right now. curtis was complete trash. i still have my copy of graduation but don’t really play it ever since it came out…for me he’s the type of rapper you need to take in small doses.
np: lil wayne - misunderstood: they rather specuialte before they informate if thats the word you know spec before check anyway meaning i much rather you talk to me first and see if you can lend an opinion before you make one just my thought of good humanity mr sharpton… mr sharpton and anyone like you you don’t know me so if your not going to try to do then what you say or think about me or whatever I do is totally casper the friendly ghost to me and its doesnt make you a good person to criticise before you improvise doesnt necessary make you a bad person either…but since i am human i am good and bad as well but i try my hardest to stay good…but i do try so with that said i dont fault you your only human…good or bad…but i also dont respect you…but i dont care whether thats good or bad…you see you are no MLK…you are no Jesse Jackson…you’re nobody to me…now let me be human by saying F***k al sharpton and anyone like him f**k if u undestand me…i love being misunderstood….why? because i live in the suburbs but i come from the hood
Vu,
I didn’t know you were “a fan” of Weezy! That’s a shocker,that’s all.
Ps: anymore Ne-yo leaked songs?
The other was really good, but I hope he comes out with hotter ones, beca Ursh was off the chain……..
theres a lot of things you dont know about me. if i see anymore of his i drop them your way.
“^lol which one do u fall in? Who says u need to rap to like his stuff.am *a fan* but no hater.”
VU, Did u mean to say?
Am NOT’a fan but no hater……………
no.
My bad,so you really are a Weezy fan.
lol, I thought you made an error and forgot to put the word, “not” in your comment!
Anyways, which one do you think is gona be on top,in the sense of album sales and review this year?
Neyo < Ursh
And which song is better,in your opinion
Closer<Love in the club (any versio)
hmmmmm they both serve different markets. you either hate or love it. you can either get down to it or not. as far as musicality goes i love the closer instrumental. it has had more plays from me, greater mass appeal and i won’t be surprised if this anthem takes over the world.
ne-yo knows what he did wrong last time round and pretty sure he knows what to bring this time round, more originality and less songs sounding all the same. more upbeat numbers but you never know because im not sold on that album title. i don’t care much for sales but i give it to ne-yo obviously because i didnt like here i stand.
has ush knockec ne-yo off your pedestal or are you having doubts?
VU,
You all know that I Just Absolutely Love Ne-yo has an artist and person but I don’t know……….
Closer was good, but I think he’s better with songs like “sexy love”,”so sick” ,”all because of you”!
Those songs just show case his raw emotion and unique talent more.
You don’t,really have to go disco to have a broader appeal.(Ursh went nine times platinum) and he didn’t go disco or (too upbeat)
I know songs like “closer” are “in” for the moment, but the question,is still the same. Will people go out and buy an album packed with those type of songs coming from any artist out their.
I would get a Riri, album like that because it soothes her and she delivers(not that Ne-yo wouldn’t because he would ) .But Ne-yo is more R and B, in my opinion. I love him yo, and I just hope he comes out with a lot more R and B music, upbeat, slow,in between with that raw emotion that were used to.Mix it up a bit,but stay true.
Ps:am not choosing between Ursh or Ne-yo at the moment,am not sure yet,ill have to hear some more Ne-yo tracks first. But compared to “closer”, urshs on the top!
(I just hated saying that because I admire Shaffer,so dam much)
Ps:check out Ursh Songs “somebody special, “what’s a man to do”, “here I stand”, (I think tr really good songs, seems like songs that Ne-yo would sing)……..
Is it just me or is rap not sucking this year? I feel like the new generation of styles, genres and heavyweights are ready to start.
IbraAke,
Clicked on your name by accident and your stats came up!
I just have one ? To ask you.
Is that you,on that pic, with that girl on the bottom of the page yo?
Ps:don’t worry,not interested,just being inquisitive!!!
Pss: Shaffer Is SOOOOOOOOOOO HOT!
Weezy album drops “june 1o”,people go buy it!
Ps:reecie, are you gona by it,so you can do a review on it!I find your reviews interesting.
well I guess I’m one of those irrational Jay fans. Even when he’s rapping about stuff I disagree with, I usually have to give the track its credit. I think part of it is the remnants of regional allegiance (tho i cldnt give a crap less about pap or saigon). Weezy did his thing too. I did like the Beetlejuice reference, and going through the seasons.
babe, first off, not liking Lil Wayne’s music is not Hating him its his music i dislike and secondly you cannot tell me that swagger, delivery and voice make a good MC (example if Wild Irish Rose came in a shiny ass bottle that sparkled when light hit it, would that make it a good drink?, but I’m sure the hood would still buy it) I think not to both. When I listen to his music I don’t feel it as I do when I listen to “Jealous got me strapped” by 2PAC or any thing from Joell Ortiz, been a fan of this Rap game long time.
In case you don’t already know, tha carter III was leaked on the web by DJ Chuck T, officially.

No thanks!
I’ll wait to buy his album.I think weezy deserves some respect, after all the hard work he’s done this year,to make this album a slam dunk!
Yea this track is pretty ill. The whole album is on youtube is you guys wanna listen without waiting for download.
Alright. I Feel Jayz Played a good part in this song. I’m Not syaing Better Then Wayne But a good part. & I’m not that sure, but to me it seemed like Jay Was stepping down. When He said “Far from being the bastard that Marcey had fathered ” That made me think like Jay was justing stepping himself down to give Wayne The better Crown..
& The whole song is just deep, it also made me Think at the end of the song. Is this song soppose to saying how powerful weezy is.? Or is Wezzy just sayin I’m here for my crown and if i leave i leave this earth, i’m leaving with the crown.?
After listing to the song about 10 times I’m still hearing the same old unfocused flow from lil Wayne. I mean his lines are always hot and his swag and voice make any record sound better but not this one
He was out shined by Jay simply because Jay from start to finish talked about something unlike Wayne who just bunched his hotlines together and really talked about nothing…..look how Wayne goes from talking about beetle juice the seasons, then talking about Holley grove, to suck a pussy, fuck a pussy leave it there I don’t want it, I don’t even care. I understand that lil’ Wayne to many people is the second coming of a Pac or even Biggie but the more we feed into his hotlines and don’t pay any attention to all the missing content we will forget what those artist had, The ability to tell a story or give us images of what they were talking about. Not just nice beats and punch line.
But back to the topic Jay simply came on the recorded and killed it so effortlessly even though many think he is old and washed up you have to give credit to the guy he can still put together a hot 16.
All hip-hop head should /would agree with me on this one
This is not meant to discredit Wayne in anyway (so don’t try to tell me about other songs that he killed or had a lot of content) the guy is the reigning king of most of his peers (not including Kanye, Lupe, or Game… Jay-Z is a legend not Wayne’s peer)
FYI: if you got the album listen to the outro to Mr. Carter Wayne’s says:
And I swear to everything, when I leave this earth
It’s gon’ be on both feet, never knees in this dirt
And you can try me fucker, but when I squeeze it hurt
Ahh, we’ll lose two lives, yours and mine
Gimme any amount of time, don’t let Miss Carter grieve
At the Funeral Parlor, drippin’ tears down my sleeve
Gimme any amount of time, don’t let Miss Carter grieve
This is from Jay-Z’s Lucky Me off his second album
^ Weezy Outshines J any day!
And he did for sure,on this song, and countless others.
When J sells more than a mill,in one week, get back to me!
what a milli to 50 million in a career
^Ok,like Weezy is only like 25 yrs old and J is like what, half a century!
So what do you expect, but for J to have sold a ton of more albums than Weezy.
If he hadn’t that would have been some serious shit, right!
Anyway’s,Weezy is just beginning and J’s been around for a Bill.So he should just take the back-drop or come harder!lol
Ps: My point is,Weezy is Hotter than J,as of right now!
Even though Jay passed the torch… he’ll always reign supreme. Shawn outrapped D’Wayne straight up on “Mr. Carter”. But Wayne is the hottest rapper right now… there’s no denying it, you don’t gotta like it.. just the way it is.
Weezy f. is da shit no matter waht yall niggers say he is HIP HOP.like weezy said in Mr.carter. fuck yall hatin him for no reason
