Watch: Kanye West “Flashing Lights” 2nd Version + The Meaning of Both Videos
Kanye West comes from left field once again for a second video for “Flashing Lights”. It’s a little glamorous in a “not even trying” kind of way and quite artistic.
When you put both videos together…you get a better sense of how they relate to the song. The first version was more of a dramatization of the “woman scorned” aspect of the song. Kanye was out there cheating and doing her wrong and this was her enacting her revenge. The second version is kind of a dramatization of the “other woman”..the culprit in the love triangle. She is the glamorous, party girl who likes to start shit. Like there were consequences for Kanye’s cheating ways, there are consequences for the “other woman’s” party girl ways. So…overall a pretty compelling pair of videos, if not totally confusing on their own.

I think Flashing Light isn’t the type of song to become all abstract in the visual manifestation of it.
He should have done something visually more along the lines of Stronger but with a storyline that actually flowed with the song (in one sitting).
Flashing Light is like a heartfelt/club/arena song. In short - the sound is far too gargantuan for abstract concept in the video. Everything about that song is IN YOUR FACE! It’s HUGE! The video should be a manifestation of that!
I loved the open endedness of the first one, and the concept of the second one. But I think this second one tried a little too hard to look as artistic as the first and fell flat. Still love Kanye though, his crappy videos look better than 95% of the videos out there anyways.
flashing lights represents the whole glamour fast life paradigm, getting into the club, getting drunk high and then getting laid, and then turning a blind eye to the pitfalls of those actions, not knowing the type of people you mess with or end up with - thats the nature of the nightlife for you - its a risk you take because one night you can get bashed for no reason and then another you can find yourselves in the middle of nowhere with no clothes on - which goes to show its the people you go out with that offers the best protection. that being said that whole stigmatized photoshop cropped photo shots treatment of the second video has been done before and before and wasnt really artistically interesting apart from that girl. it got interesting from 3:00 onwards when she was drudging up that alleyway. what was interesting to say the least is that you dont need over dramatization in the first video to tell a story like the second version did. the first version dealt simply with the psycho dominatrix and anyone who gets in their way has to deal with or be killed; the second managed to at least capture the flashing lights metaphor and prolonged it. personally i feel that the culprit is kanye himself for leading these two women on. that was the most compelling part. kanye looked lost in the second version, looking a little like the devil’s advocate. i understand the motive to re-do another version -the first one was a lame attempt at movie dramatization - im sure if it was true, kanye lives because the way she struck him was firstly lame, and second it seemed the blow was not to his head but to his dick region which takes dickriding to another level and flashing lights in the head.
This may not be the best Kanye video,but I still think that he’s the best rapper out their right now!
Ps: just watched Ursh on good morning America.he couldn’t stop showing off his wedding ring.full of smiles! He said that people have told lyes about his wifes age and name and that her name is Tameka “Raymond”,not foster and that she is HIS wife!

I love the song and video. It’s kind of interesting that the party girl is a white girl. The sisters like to go out and have a good time to.

The videos both have the same woman in them: Rita G. Thats the magic of a good weave and sunglasses. And she’s mixed, not white. But you know whatever..
for all the haters agianst white girls, uhhh that girl isent entirely white, you can tell, that she is at least mixed with mexican or spanish or one of the romance languges. and she is so beautiful, and she pulled it off well, she had a job, and she aced it, and you know what that was kanye’s vision, shit he has a black girl in alot of his other videos, is it not okay for a black man, or any man to be diverse? ignorant.
