Album Review: Usher- Here I Stand

Usher is back with his highly anticipated new album “Here I Stand”. Will it be a collection of instant classics like “Love In This Club” or has his star faded?
First up is the “Intro” which fills in the blank about how his life has changed since his last album…he has found love, he has grown up, and you can expect a more mature sound from him.
“Love In This Club” is already a smash hit so I don’t think much needs to be said about this track. It’s pure hotness, but the question remains if the rest of the album will have this sexy and fresh sound.
“This Ain’t Sex” in contrast to the Hip Hop/R&B flavor of “Love” is a little Adult Top 40. The song has a throwback Morris Day & The Time/Prince vibe with the way Usher sings and the production. Considering that so much of R&B music over the past year or so has been dominated by the horny 19-23 year olds who talk about nothing but sex, I can appreciate this song trying to bring a little romance and class back to the scene.
“Trading Places” is about the man and woman switching roles for a day. If Usher were a woman he would be pretty damn high maintenance. He has a pretty exhaustive list of things he would want his mate to do and perhaps I should be taking notes because I haven’t thought of a lot of these things lol. This song is cool…although a smidge on the bizarre side for my personal tastes.
Usher switches gears lyrically with “Moving Mountains”. Here Usher is going to for the epic struggle for love with this track and for the most part he pulls it off. The production, lyrics, and singing come together for an almost theatrical effect. With that said, there is still something that I can’t put my finger on this song that I’m not feeling. Overall it is a cool song, but as a single it pales in comparison to the blockbusters from “Confessions”.
On “What’s Your Name” (featuring Will.i.Am) Usher is trying to get to a know a chick he just met. At this point, I’m waiting for some different sounding production, because it is getting a little redundant. I would like this song a lot more if didn’t sound so similar to the preceding tracks.
The rest of the album review after the jump
“Prayer For You” is an adorable interlude that features Usher’s son. Awww…I like this softer sound and it provides that much needed production break I was just talking about (someone read my mind). It is so wonderful to hear an artist make a song about being a father and the love for his child when this industry tends to focus on everything but family.
“Something Special” is an acoustic treat about a special relationship. I really like this…it’s such a feel good song that is certainly great for the lovers out there. I’m not suggesting swagger jacking, but this sounds like something I would hear on a Robin Thicke album. Thumbs up for this one.
“Love You Gently” is a sexy little number and I must say that I prefer Usher when he is showing off his own distinctive vocal chops rather than emmulating the sound of someone like Prince. I’m digging the sensuality and romance of this song and it is a master class for the singers who need a lesson on how to make a non-crass song about sex.
“Best Thing” features Jay-Z and is about two men who have reached a level of maturity to understand that the grass is not always greener on the other side. I’m so happy to hear Jay-Z go from “99 problems but a bitch ain’t one” to this (not to say that he hasn’t had other redeemable moments between then). Usher’s verses are about how he let the one he loved get away because he was out there acting a fool cheating all over the place. Now he has learned his lesson and he is trying to convince his ex to take him back. I’m not 100% feeling the production, but I really like this song.
“Before I Met You” is about how his woman changed his life and made him a better man. Part atonement/part appreciation…this song perfectly captures the sentiment of those the men who have done more than a fair share of dirt but who have turned over a new leaf for that special woman.
On “His Mistakes” Usher sings about not wanting to pay for the mistakes people in his lover’s past have made. Nice song…and I’m sure a lot of people can relate.
“Appetite” is about how the married Usher sometimes has an appetite for cheating but manages to keep it in check. He weaves a compelling narrative about the tempting scenarios he faces and how he keeps himself out of trouble. It’s a cautionary tale of sorts and I’m quite impressed with this.
“What’s A Man To Do” is about how Usher is not over his ex so he can’t fully commit to his current girlfriend. The thing I like about this album so far is that Usher is doing a convincing job of emoting the lyrics and in this song he sounds genuinely torn. To answer his rhetorical question…be honest and let the woman move on to a man who won’t have his head stuck up his ex’s ass and can appreciate a good thing in front of him.
“Lifetime” is a very sweet song about how Usher has found “the one”. Another wonderful/romantic song…gotta love it.
“Love in This Club Part II” features Beyonce and Lil Wayne and is pure hotness. Part II ups the sexiness factor ten fold…it’s the return of the club slow jam. Beyonce and Usher both have a sensual sound that work so well for this song and Lil Wayne adds his quirkiness. Love it!
“Here I Stand” reminds me of one those classic love songs along the lines of a Babyface song or a Quincy Jones masterminded track. I love the band produced (rather than computer generated) sound of the song, because it complements the emotion of the lyrics. This is such a romantic song and I love it.
“Will Work for Love” is the last track and I can’t help but wonder why he didn’t just end with “Here I Stand” which is a much stronger track.
Overall…this album is mostly solid. It’s rare that I say this, but I think it might be just a little bit too long. Instead of having 15 full songs with 2 interludes, it would’ve been much better if he had cut out of some of the redundancy and chopped it down to maybe 11 songs and the interludes. I probably would’ve cut “Will Work For Love”, “What’s A Man To Do”, “His Mistakes”, and “What’s Your Name”. A little more diversity in the production would’ve also made the album better. Nonetheless, I like how Usher’s album is very reflective of his current stage in life- being a married father. Although there is nothing daring about the sound of his album, it is certainly a daring move to make an album that is about being a grown man who has embraced and appreciates marriage (monogamy) and fatherhood. It would’ve been easier for him to just make Confession Part II and sell off the charts; but instead he chose to be artistically honest so I have to give him major credit for that. However, I still get the feeling that Usher isn’t exactly sure what his sound should be…thus the more mature content doesn’t have the same natural feeling as an album like Raheem DeVaughn’s “Love Behind the Melody”. Usher has delivered a good album…but he still has more work to do to catch up musically with the growth he has experienced emotionally.
What do you guys think of the album? Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?
Posted by Reecie

I Think it is a good album, however as I said months ago nothing could live up to Confessions and we are getting into the territory where we are comparing usher to usher.
Side Note: Trading places was wrote by the dream.
-
Great review. I agree with you for the most part. I will listen to the album again to see where I differ (if I differ at all…)
Hold up Reecie - If Usher were a woman, he’d be high maintenance?!
Coming from a man’s perspective - I think Usher gave you a good understanding of what men do when are courting women (and what they should do if they want to keep her happy in the r-ship).
As a man, I’m going to give a run down of the lyrics from a man’s POV.
Now, I know you are going to imply that men from Los Angeles come weak with it and expect women to do everything, but I listened to every lyric like “Yup, that’s in the playbook,” especially if its a first date or a special night.
Verse 1 Review:
I fill the tank up before a date because you dont want to be on E (well, now it may be half of tank with gas being $4 a gallon). Every man waits for a woman before a date. Open all doors (sidebar: Reecie, remember our convo about a woman unlock the car door once she is in the car after a man opens her door?), pay for the date - even though I would never go to the movies on a first date.
“And whisper in my ear I bet you really wanna do me
Girl now take me home and get up in Benz
Pour me up a shot and force me to the bed”
The whisper may be too much if it were 1st date. But a special night - you let her know what to anticipate. As for the Benz, yea…Imma have to change that to a Honda Accord. My bachelor pad stays with expensive wine and liquor
Verse 2 is where he takes a page from Love Jones - Darius Lovehall encourage me to step my breakfast skills up. I can’t cook, but I can make some mean scrambled eggs (throw some onions and cheese up in there), toast, and turkey bacon (you know I don’t dine on the swine).
Today we going shopping blow 30 on me
Make it 60, spend it like u really love me
Yea…I can blow $30 on lunch…maybe $60…If he meant grandsssss, then we are in trouble. That’s high maintenance.
Verse 3 is a checklist. I may not wash her cash per se…but I’ve been known to stop by the car wash and EZ Lube and check her tires. Walk the dog, I guess - I never dated a woman with a dog. Take out the trash - check.
Besides a couple of lines (drop 30 and the benz), I think Usher did a good job of “trading places.”
Now - I will admit that I don’t think a woman should “trade places” with a man to see how it is to court or keep a woman. From my experience, women do ALOT more than men in r-ships…
I agree that the album isn’t diverse enough.
Will Work For Love ….complete flop
but I am loving Something Special, Lifetime, Love You Gently, This Ain’t Sex, Moving Mountains …and of course the hottest song on the album, Love in This Club Part II.
By the way, did anyone see his interview on Ellen?

lol@ the honorable…was that a response or an advertisement? lol. Just kidding. Anyway, my comment was more of a joke. When you listen to it as a list of things to do in one day, it sounds a little over the top…but like I said…maybe I need to be taking notes from the song.
WTF?? i see yall still high from your memorial day weekend.
u know my feelings on this release.
i expected this type of album from an artist who was on album #2 not 5 deep into a career. It is far too safe, too bland and lacking emotional consistency for where he is as a major established artist. It’s a flash in a pan grab attempt at extorting dwindling profits, falling flat on its face. Here I stand is not indicative of where he is at this point in his life nor is it the most aptly titled statement he should have given to the new album. Despite the album budget, it also represents the fading star potential he has when it comes to enlisting A-list producers and colloborators, many of whom have equipped him with left-over second-rate material. Perhaps he was too over ambitious and over-calcuating, wanting to do too many things which eroded him of consistency. Its very easy for you to get others to write for you but you’ve got to OWN the material when it comes down to it - he fails on most accounts. I’ve gone back numerous times to re-listen to the album and everytime i do its just a hassle/tedious exercise to sit there listening to usher whine and waddle his way through his attempts to walk between lessons of grandeur, infidelity and domesticity; its too uneven for my tastes and audibly clustered. “Trading places” is just pure homo-erotic I cannot stand to listen to this ever again . “Appetite”, “Whats your name”, “Love you gently” are all tracks that should have been remained on the cutting room floor. I fail to comprehend anyone who says that they can never outdo what they did previously - its just a matter of talent, direction and using it to your advantage. He should have easily trumped his last album considering the numerous inklings and undertones that were apparent on tracks such as “Truth Hurts’, “Follow Me” and ‘That’s What its Made for” that were begging for that one great album of a classic. There’s a level of credibility at stake here, this time round, which is insincere when usher delivers lines such as “believe me when I say” or “true story”. “Before i met you” has been done numerous times before and not by the same one artist. “Whats A Man to Do” and the hidden track “Will Work for Love” are the standout tracks for me. ‘Lifetime” was promising at first listen but its missing far too many components- degree of difficulty, a key change, measured falsettos and genuine earnestness - to keep people interested long enough. I’ve heard “His Mistakes”, “Love in this club part 1 & 2″ far too many times, that any sparks that may have flowed out and interest have worn out. I just find it astounding when the Pt.2 engineer came onto this site a month or so ago and said he or the team didn’t sample anything when its so obvious they did, anyone could tell them that from a mile away.
on the topic of cooking, scramble eggs literally cook themselves.
I agree with the above post for the most part. This album is really lacking. Although I enjoyed What’s Your Name, since it seems will.i.am was willing to give him something unique for the album. I also liked Will Work for Love and part 2, but I found repeated listens revealed Beyonce’s insincere vocals and stupid lyrics. Too many of these songs sound like filler. I took a chance with Mariah’s album because there were enough instant faves to let it gro on me, but I doubt I will be buying this. It seems like the powers that be are seriously trying to replace Usher with Chris Brown, who hasn’t seen nearly the amount of sales Usher has had or ever will. Brown gets the best beats and decent songwriting. Superhuman with Keri Hilson is a simple duet but is seriously better than anything on Usher’s latest. It’s a shame that male r&b is like this, where the only way an artist can see continued success is if he writes and produces his own music, like R. Kelly or Robin Thicke. This album won’t flop, but it will make many fans quesrion buying his next one.
By the way, have you heard the Japanese bonus track “Revolver”? It was produced by prettiboifresh and you can listen to it here:http://www./download/123638436de52671/
Another good track that’s a new sound for him. I personally think he shouldn’t have took the grown man approach with this album but kept it light and danceable. I mean if Madonna, a 50 year old mother of three can sing about hitting the dancefloor, I think Usher at 29 can do just the same.
HATERS! Whatever!
Ursh star has definitely Not faded at all! He has just matured, both mentally and physically. I actually wasn’t that much into Ursh, until now. I think that he is better than ever now. On top of his game both as a Man and Artist!
I am so proud of Ursh and can’t wait to get my hands on his album today,as soon as I get my lazy self out of my bed this morning….
Way to go Ursh! Multiple Platinum Status again!!!!!!!!
Ps: Ne-yo will be on the Tyra Banks Show Today with Performances……..
Don’t Miss It Yall!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bigphil,Robin,or R Kelly?
What about Ne-yo he dam sure writes ALL his own songs and sings too.and he’s far more better than the other two!
And you took a chance with Mariah, but not with Ursh,PLEAZEEEEE don’t let me lmao!
Thank God Ursh hasn’t become repetitive, like some OLDER” artists we know (Mariah) afraid to change it up because they know their career will flop, like it did before.
And has far as Chris
PEOPLE! he is only nineteen years old!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still a baby,compared to the others…………..
Trust me,he’s gona go far in this industry,am sure in time, might even surpass the others!
how is it hate when most of his true fans have called it trash poo stains words to that effect.
mariah >>> usher >>> janet >>> madonna
i called it a few months back that mariah would shit all over usher and i was right and it was reinforced once again. mariah’s release was the more consistent of any mainstream artist release this year and she didnt regress at all- usher did majorly in that department. with both crappy releases from both janet and madonna, i still continue to listen to e=mc2 because the musicality is all there, the structure is all there and the voice is all there. the vocals on janet are siginificantly deteriorated and madge tries to stay relevant with her ghetto make-over. if you want to actually spend money, then check out the following releases thus far:
1. calvin richardson
2. donna summers
3. algebra
4. lyfe jennings
5. the new al green
6. the new jesse mccartney is pretty good for a white boy
robin thicke drops july 1!
JW for the record usher wont be around for album #11 guaranteed.
I too have to say i was a bit dissapointed in his latst album.
To me it seems instead of making an album for his fans or just for the sake of art– he made an album to spite the media, address rumours/gossip, and profess his undieing love for his wife and baby
i just cant relate to his new album as much as i did “confessions”. it seems way too personal to solely him — lullaby’s and constant wife references robs the audience from relating to it from their personal perspective (unless you have wife and kids)– he should of just made a scrapbook so he couldve given us the cd we were expecting/wanting
some songs came off a lil broadway/show tuney/pop to me— lacking that edge, bass, grit. i think this album was a lil light on the rnb
I hate to keep comparing it to confessions, but that cd you could just throw it on and put in work cuz it just oozed sex appeal and certain song could easily set the mood— this new cd, not so much
i foget to add that i did enjoy: Something special, Love you gently, Appetite & this aint love
No thanks Vu!
Don’t find any of them artists interesting enough to go waste my money buying their Cd!
Donna and Robin, might go for the booth leg version.
Mariah only if I could down-load it for FREE!!!!!!
I don’t care what any of you guys say,Ursh is on top of his game and no other artist out their, this year so far, album wasnot anticipated like that of Ursh.
VU,u gotta remember that most of Ursh fan-base were women and a lot of them are hating on him now, because he’s married. But I guarantee u that they’ll probably be the first to buy his album.
He is going to sell more than Mariah, even probably more than my fav Ne-yo(and yall know how much I admire him) but yet still I can be honest………
I know you really admire Mariah, and I can appreciate that and your opinion, but I have faith in Ursh that he will be on top again, because he’s sooo dam talented!!!!!!!!!!
Ps:vu,welcome back haven’t hrd fr u in a while.
Pss: his mistakes his my fav on the album.I think it gives you a inside view into Ursher”s true feelings.
lmao i knew u would come back eventually. first off have you heard both mariah’s and usher’s album in their entirety - purchased or dled? its out right now if you havent noticed. if not then its just like talking to a brick wall. usher is not on the top of his game, vocally or musically, his levels of assurety and confidence are down a peg. why are people going to purchase this (here i stand) when it leaked like 2-3 weeks ago, the material on the album doesnt justify people spending their hard earned money on this. its like a slap in the face - here i stand im usher buy my album because im usher. forget that. sure a good majority of his fans are female but dudes still have the confessions cd on rotation once in awhie and there are are many out there that will like the album for what it is. we all know you have stubborn musical tastes so if u really want the mariah album, hit me with an email.
vic - that new calvin richardson was WACK!
btw, this usher album was pretty good. a little too long and too many slow songs, but the lyrical and vocal value makes this a STRONG album.
I have a feeling that this album isn’t as good as confession. This new album is probably one of the best album out there but that isn’t saying much considering the state of music right now. I think it’s great that lyrically Usher is going for a mature sound. I do think this album is worth checking out but if you are expecting some better than confession than you might be disappointed. Production wise he didn’t really experiement but he doesn’t have to.
viciuzurban- I’m going to have to disagree with you on the new Madonna. There are some embarrassing parts here or there, but it’s not like she hasn’t gone urban before. Remember Take A Bow/ Secret from Bedttime Stories? Besides, the album is better as a workout disc than it is for listening in the car. Even the songs I hated sound better in the gym.
But on Jesse McCartney, isn’t that messsed up that HE has the better album? In terms of beats/production its superior to Usher, which is sad considering they used some of the same writers/producers. But lyrically, it’s a joke, since Jesse tries so hard to be urban when he wasn’t even close to that in on his last album.
Back to Usher, hopefully he’ll release a better album once he really settles into fatherhood. I don’t buy that all of a sudden he’s “matured”. I just think he’s giving the public what he thinks they want from him. Bad choice.
goddamit i wrote something here and now i have rewrite it
Phil, yeah take a bow was a classic off bedtime stories, it encapsulated that whole feeling of the album , well written considering it was babyface penned and well executed, haunting but showcasing enough restraint and trademark babyface backing vocals. Devil wouldn’t recognize tries to recapture some of that magic, but the soulfulness of her earlier tracks are clearly missing on “Hard Candy”.
I was skeptical of jesse’s “leavin” at first – it was pretty laughable hearing him say the things he did – the video was pretty comical seeing his buzz cut and skinny frame but I think with the new album, he’s succeeded in showcasing a different side of him whilst going in a direction that in some sense is worthy of some sense of growth – vocally and lyrically. His pop sensibilities and musicality make him an acute and catchy writer – no im not surprised that he has the better constructed and produced album – once you get past the cliched one liners and hood references, in totality “departure” is a consistent album - give credit where credit is dude, the kid has surveyed the landscape and gone in a direction that not only pays homage to his pop past but gives him a laneway in which to go for future projects – usher was just lazy with his latest effort, pure laziness, dont hold it against this kid - sure he’s trying to be more hood but so did justin – are you going to hold that against him? Im particularly liking not your enemy, told you so and its over.
Lol @ thehonrable how can you say that man when Calvin wrote all the tracks on the album. If anything Calvin trumps Usher any day. There’s more moods, substance and shades of grey at display here, 70s and 80s arrangements and influences, the type of stuff you’d heard coming out of a juke box late at night. Tracks such as Make Love With Friends (on first listen, there’s something very reminiscent and immediate you notice about this track - its that pulsating perfectly-crafted Curtis Mayfield “Think” sample), Sang No More and Fire in the Attich all drip and ooze with sexual and lyrica depth. Nobody Loves You is a banger (sounds like the Dream helmed this one) and Daddy to My Kids is the type of track Usher would beg for.
Madonna SUCKS!
So does Jesse McCarthy!
(don’t know if I spelled his name right,and I really don’t care)!
And compared to URSH they are not even on his radar in this life-time or any other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bigphil and Vu,I have a feeling that you two,are in this together, trying to dieter people fr purchasing Ursh album.and yes,vu,I have “a stubborn musical taste”!lol
But that’s because I believe strongly in what I “know to be true”,that’s all yo.
URSH,confession’s album went platinum nine times, and yes he may never reach that status with this one,but that does not mean that this album will not be successful.
Back then, people weren’t downloading albums or buying them booth-leg as now.and albums were cheaper.now the prices of everything as gone up so yes, people out tr might find other ways to get an album other than buying them.
In any case, ursh rocks big time! Love him yo. And yes haters you don’t have to buy “that he matured”,thus, the direction, for his new album, because nobody cares, certainly not Ursh! He’s gona be successful, regardless
Pss: Mr H, your right on point, except that,I kinda like them slow songs more, but I feel ya!
The album is for my parents, old people, its not bad but its not good either. He is out of touch with his audience most of the tracks sound like music you hear at a black wedding. I do not know if this is a review either, basically you gave us your perspective on each song but you rarely explain why its hot or a snoozefest.
Mr. O…in case you hadn’t noticed, I write all my reviews this way. I write as I react to the song and try and convey to the reader what the song is trying to get across. Nonetheless…I don’t see how it is not a review, when with practically every song I rate the production, lyrics, and singing…and I give a summary about what he did right with the album and where he fell short. But any rate…I wrote it how I wrote it and everyone can take it how they take it.
“Mr o,” you are so annoying that its becoming pathetic!
Are you white or something?
Pleazeeeeee,so what!,if some of his songs (in your stupid opinion sound like some tracks you hear at a black wedding) thank GOD for that, maybe I can find one or a few from it,for my own wedding!
And How Old Are You?
No older than 12 I guess…………..
“The album is for old people”.Negro, pleazedont let me lmao!!!!
You must be stupid,or slow!which one is it?
Don’t bother to answer, because it seems like your both to me………!!!!!
Ps: if you a brother, you sure got a blackness complex, but I Pray you ant,all we need is another put down person of his own race preferences,if you get my drift!
You might not,because u seem kinda slow………..
“Mr o,” you are so annoying that its becoming pathetic!
Are you white or something?
^Do you find white people annoying and pathetic? I’m not trying to start stuff but isn’t this a racist comment.
heyy yall gotta see this mtv interview usher did..
he WENT OFF!!
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5ksxi_may-27-2008_people
man usher needs to shut the hell up and go away for real. this childish behaviour does nothing for your album. it sucked big time. and thanks for the relationship advice i really needed that. u the man. i thought it was common sense that growing up is something you do or you dont do - and it couldnt be more obvious when you hit marriage that expectations about you are changed and the way you interact should be changed. usher ate the bait and ran with it. so much for growing up.
Stall,
Read what I wrote good, before you ask a ridiculous, dumb-ass question like that!
I don’t need to explain myself to you but for the sake of peace let me a little.
I was making that statement to (MR o)
because he made a comment about Ursh songs, sounding like music you here at a “black wedding” ! And he didn’t mean that in a nice way!
(read, between the lines) before you start jumping down my throat yo!
And as for him being pathetic in my eyes,it has nothing to do with his color but is dumb-ass comments!
Is it the first time ,that I’ve called someone pathetic or annoying, refresh your memory! I’ve made comments about you and you ant white,so what you wana start up shit for?
Anyways I have white people in my family and have dated mixed guys so SHUT UP!
And I can say what I want,if that bothers you,I could care less……………
Ps:Shaffer, your still the hottest to me!
jamaican woman…calm down and stop verbally attacking people. ur acting childish
in terms of the review, i disagree completely with reeice. i truly enjoy most of the tracks. usher is on a different level in his life right now and it definitely reflects in his music. its nice to see usher changing as a man and it reflecting in his songs. i feel his cd is a breathe of fresh air. sits omething much different from what is on the radio now.
Tory,
I’ve calmed down, but if someone was accusing you off being racist then you’d get upset too!
I was hurt by that accusation, that’s all
No hard feelings to Stall,I don’t hold up anyone for long.
Ps: am an emotional woman when I want to be,that’s just me.
he wasnt calling you a racist. u thought he was which in turn you believed he was, when in fact he wasnt - reading inbetween the lines. the mind is a powerful thing JW and you need to realise that no one in his world can ever make you think or feel in a way that you dont want to feel. no one can enter that space inbetween ur head unless you let them to and unless you let them cloud your judgment. nothing is serious all the time and paranoia will eat you inside. there is a fine line between someone call you a racist and you planting in your mind what you think you think before anyone has said anything.
Vu,
“isn’t that a racist comment”!
If that doesnot sound like someone accusing you off being racist, then am lost…………….
Any,which way,its over and done with!
What’s done is done, and what’s said is said.I’ve moved on.
Ps:if he wasn’t accusing me of being one,he would have clarified that!
Pss:on another note,
VU,why you don’t like Ursh yo?he’s album is really good
I wasn’t really an admire of him, until this year.he has grown into such a true genteman, like you silly……lol

he didnt say JW
…U R A RACIST…he said isnt that a racist comment when you said “are you white or something? thats the bigger of the two…and yeah in my opinon there’s a shade of racism there from you…everyone is a racist in some shape or fashion even i am one, its just being human, there are races we dont like due to social profiling, interactions we had with them, whether it be neighbours, people at school or in the work environment or people we indirectly deal with on a daily basis which go on to shape our imindset/interaction with and about people of a particular race, can it be changed in the future? definitely. ur circle can always change and your friends too. no one can truly say they aren’t racist because it doesnt exist IMO…. as for the album, ur so fickle u hate someone some day and then you love them the next…pm @ viciuzurban@hotmail.com
Go out,and buy Ursh album peole, its worth that effort!

VU,just because I may “seem to HATE”,
Someone one day,and like tr”music the other, does not mean that I Might like”,that individual! It just means that I really like the song” that they came out with at that time and then return, might begin to have a different perspective of the individual as an artist!
A perfect eg.,is lil wayne! Couldn’t stand his raw personality, still can’t at times, but I have grown to respect him and conclude that he is,one of the best rappers/artist out their now!
Wow, Jamaican Woman is a train wreck.
Mr.O,
It takes one to know one!
Ps:ursh will be performing on “Good Morning America” Tomorow,so check him out!

I disagree that everyone’s “racist,” but definitely prejudiced…an issue of semantics for me.
Thanks Reecie and Honorable, I definitely have to check out “Trading Places”. It sounds a bit like a male “Like a Boy”.
Ursh, performed on “good morning America”,and in “my opinion”,it was a good performance!
Definitely worth viewing!
ps:the only thing missing,was Jeezy.
Anyways,CONGRATS,
Ursh, for having the no.1 song in the country right now!
(Well deserved)
I am a fan of this dude Usher..and hes come a long way…
but this album I must say is a more expressive type cd..there isn’t really any straight ahead jamz hes known for unless you count “Best thing” and “this ain’t sex”…
But a hot cd none the less…
as for his GMA performance I checked it out and his band kinda slipped up on Moving mountains and threw him off..but he came around and pulled off a hot performance..
Do it homie!!
I WOULD GIVE THE ALBUM HERE I STAND 2.5/3 STARS OUT OF FIVE.I BROUGHT THE ALBUM AND I HAVE TO SAY ITS GOOD I DONT THINK IT’S HIS BEST WORK AS THE ALBUM CONFESSIONS. PEOPLE ARE COMPARING IT TO CONFESSIONS BECAUSE IT DIDNT MATCH UP TO IT ,IF IT DID NO ONE WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT IT.PLUS I THINK PEOPLE ARE STILL STUCK ON THE LIFE STYLE OF 2004 AND HE CAME OUT WITH SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERYONE IS KIND OF LOST WITH THIS BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE A SURPRISE I GUESS.THE BEATS ARE HOT BUT I CANT FIND THAT “IT “SONG ,NOTHING GRABS MY ATTENTION WITHIN THE FEW SEC’S OF EACH RECORD.THIS ALBUM SEEMS TO BE OUT OF PLACE I THINK ITS BECAUSE HE WORKED WITH MANY DIFFERENT PRODUCERS AND WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT EACH PRODUCER HAS THEIR OWN STYLE AND PUTTING IT TOGETHER SEEMS TO ALL OVER THE PLACE. SOME OF THE LYRICS ARE MEANINGFUL BUT DOESN’T FLOW EASILY AS CONFESSIONS .THE STORYLINE AND EACH CHAPTER TO CONFESSIONS FLOWS EASILY AND I GET THE MESSAGE HE GETS ACROSS TO HIS FANS.I FEEL USHER REALLY DIDN’T PUT ALL OF HIS HARD WORK INTO THIS ALBUM, ITS LIKE HE RUSHED THROUGH IT .HERE I STAND HAS A NEW STORY TO TELL WHICH IS ABOUT USHER FINDING LOVE AND GETTING MARRIED AND HAVING A CHILD.I THINK HE’S TO CAUGHT UP ON SAYING THAT HE HAS GROWN UP AND HAS TAKEN NEW RESPONSIBILTIES THAT CHANGE HIM FROM BEING A PLAYER. I REALLY DON’T CARE ABOUT HIS PERSONAL LIFE WITH TAMEKA, EVERYTHING HE SAYS ABOUT HER JUST SEEMS PHONIE NOT REAL THAT’S THE VIBE I GET .THE MEDIA IS ALWAYS GOING TO PUT OUT WHAT THEY THINK AND WANNA HEAR NOT SEE.I THINK NO ONE SEEN IT COMING BUT THE TRUTH IS HE IS WITH HER BUT PEOPLE ARE STUCK ON HIS PAST RELATIONSHIP BUT WE HAVE TO LET THAT GO AND MOVE ON BECAUSE HE DID HIS CONFESSIONS A LONG TIME AGO.WHEN CONFESSIONS CAME OUT USHER LEFT ME WAITING MORE AND I WAITED FOUR YEARS LATER AND HERE I STAND IS A COOL ALBUM BUT I JUST CANT RELATE TO IT.HIS BEST TIME AND BEST WORK AS A N ARTIST WAS 2004 ,I THINK EVERY ARTIST AS THEIR TIME ,LETS SEE IF HE CAN PULL IT AGAIN THIS TIME.BY THE WAY YOU SHOULD GET THE ALBUM BECAUSE IT WILL GROW ON YOU, PROBABLY NOT AT FIRST BUT IT WILL COME AROUND.
ANN B,
I started reading your comments about Ushr, but couldn’t bother wasting my time to finish reading it!
It seems to me that you’,are the one that is lost and stuck in 2004!!!!!!!
It clearly looks like your, the one that Don’t know what “you” want!
Ursh album,rates as an A!
If its out of 5,then as a 5 to me. But certainly nothing less than a 4.8 out of 5!
Ps: VU, what’s the link for Ushers performance on “good morning america”?
