Watch: Mariah Carey “Bye Bye” + Wedding Update
Mariah Carey’s new video for “Bye Bye” is out. Although the video was all over the place, I like some of the personal touches of the video. I get that the basic premise of the song is that she wishes her loved one was there to see the success she has become, so in that regard the scenes of the adoring fans and celebrity duties make sense…but it just felt a little impersonal. I think the video was the most touching when it showed pictures of people she knew that passed, like her father and Luther Vandross. The parts with Nick Cannon seemed a little random, but at least we got the chance to see that they make a cute couple.
What do you guys think of the video? Did Nick Cannon do a good job directing it?
Edit: I didn’t feel compelled to make a new post, but for those who are interested, Mariah Carey (Or should I say Mariah Cannon? lol) and Nick Cannon will be gracing the cover of People Magazine with their wedding pic and talking about their relationship and wedding.
Here is a taste of what they told People:
“We really do feel we are soulmates,” Carey tells PEOPLE, following their sunset ceremony at the pop star’s Bahamian estate. “I never felt a love like this was in the cards for me.”
Cannon adds: “She is beautiful on the outside and 10 times as beautiful on the inside.”
Well I guess that settles it…they are married. It looks like Mariah was a beautiful bride.

The video is ok. I think it could have been done better. Going from one type of film to another made the video jumpy to me. I guess if it went with the beat of the song or something as well as a word que then it would have worked better (like the ending… well played at the ending).
Could the Nick Cannon “marriage” thing be about promoting the video??? That was the first thing I thought watching the video. It didn’t look like they were REALLY together in the vid in my opinion. It was too placed and not natural enough… maybe if there was a scene where they were in it a little longer then ok. PLUS what does him being in the video have to do with ANYTHING the song talks about? Her being with her boyfriend seems off when the song is about good byes… I though they was gonna show a scene where he got killed or something… or at least hurt.
Anyway, over all its a good video, but it could have been better.
Am happy for Mariah if she’s truly found love but That’s just not the type of woman Nick has stated before,was his type.if he was with a Victoria Secreat model and broke up with her,then what says Mariah!
I hope am wrong.She is a beautiful woman,although Nick seems more grounded and mature than her.

lol…that’s what I was thinking too. I was watching it thinking…ok maybe if he got killed in the video then it would make sense that this is a “bye bye” to him…but since nothing of the sort happened it just seemed really random.
As far as a marriage to promote the video…I don’t really know about that. I think MC is entirely too much of a superstar for that kind of stunt…but this whole marriage thing so far seems like a stunt. The video was shot back in March when supposedly their affair first started taking off, so that would explain why they seem a little forced in the video. But…I think they look cute together…we’ll see where this goes.
Is it just me or does nick look mad puberty-level uncomfortable next to Mariah like he’s still in disbeleif that he got that close to ‘em titties? Also I kinda like that migrate song is the album any good? If it’s like her last one I’ll cop it (and by cop I mean download illegally the entire thing).

YAY, the New Video hit today.. IT’s ok, really nothing special. She had potential here to do something really touching, but OLE Nick Cannon, sorta screw that up, both with Direction and his appearance. In regards to the marriage, I dunno…Anywho, back to the video– I really like the stage performance part of the video. Nicely done(anyone know who the DP was on this video). Did anyone else see the Brat cameo, competely not needed. Now I need to go watch it several times more, but it off of iTunes, and my weekly Mariah duties will be done.

I have to admit that when u find your soulmate after alot of failed relationships its overwhelming. I found mine and i was on cloud 9. BUT!! I quickly learned after a year that just because a person is your soulmate DOES NOT mean they are meant for you relationship wise. Sometimes soulmates are best as friends. I think mariah is to old to be running around getting married to someone who has a long history of cheating.
Oh well at least is keeping the attention on her and her album. and isnt that whats most important?
The funny thing about that picture is that it looks like some photoshopped her and didn’t photoshop him lol. I’m not going to pass judgement on how long it will last…I’ll hope for the best. I’m interested to see whether we will see more appearances with them together. I think Mariah Carey officially took the shine fromt he Jay & Bey wedding. Surprise nuptials and the pics hit the mags within two days…they won the celebrity wedding battle lol.

im pretty disappointed, i liked to think i look out for her best intersts but what can you do really. does it make me like or hate the new album less than what i initially did? dunno. can u believe she had “mrs. canon” tattooed on the back of her neck. i still dont find anything remotely validating about what she has done, its very suspect the attempts to which canon propogated the days leading up to the marriage proposal. two months of dating and they both coming off as they are both soulmates. never heard so much bs in my life, canon must be loving the publicity. anyways im sure da brat is watching nick like a hawk, either way, break up, it will make good material for the next album. just remember i told yall so, and yeah my shoulder is available to cry on any time.
