New Music: Erykah Badu, Sean Paul, Pleasure P (Pretty Ricky)/Lil Wayne, B2K, Original “Dey Know Remix”

Another new Erykah Badu track is floating around called “The Healer”. I think it’s pretty safe to say that this is one of those chill type tracks that you zone out to when listening to her album. I like how Ms. Badu always comes with something different and interesting than everybody else out. I’m not gonna front like I’m blown away, but I’m always on her team so I can’t wait to hear more. I criticized one of Sean Paul’s leaks as being a bit too watered down, but much to my delight he has a new song called “Model” that brings the heat we are used to. This song is definitely a banger and I can see this one being a pretty solid hit with a video that brings the heat on the choreography tip. Nobody is really reppin hard for the Reggae artists on the mainstream scene, so hopefully Sean Paul can make a strong comeback. It might not be so easy though considering how his song “Watch Di Gal Dem Roll” was super slept on. Click here to listen

Pleasure P of the debunked Pretty Ricky has a new track called “Rock Bottom” featuring Lil Wayne. Don’t ask me which one he is from the group, because I wouldn’t have even the slightest clue. But, I’m surprised at how decent his voice is…I guess all of the buffoonish antics of Pretty Ricky overshadowed his vocal talents. Granted, he isn’t an amazing singer, but he can sing well enough for me to keep thinking it is someone else actually singing. Lil Wayne didn’t quite steal the show like he usually does, but he flows nicely with the track. I don’t think this song has that crazy energy that Pretty Ricky songs had, but that might be a good thing to cast him in a more serious light. Click here to listen
B2K is trying to piece together their career with a new song “Body”. Hmmm….not gonna happen. But..have you seen the trailer for their new reality show? (See Below) It’s going to be a hot mess! Click here to listen
(Sidebar: Isn’t Raz-B a f*&king basket-case?)
Yesterday I posted the New York Remix to Shawty Lo’s “Dey Know” (I guess it’s not “They Know” so excuse my correct grammar lol)…but apparently another remix came out over a month ago that I never posted. Thehaytidream brought the song to my attention so I’m posting it for everyone even though nobody seemed to really care about the New York version. This version features Ludacris, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Plies. Songs like this always make me wonder…2 things: 1) why people put rappers that far more talented than they are on their record, and 2) why people do a sub-par remix to a song that has already been upgraded. What do you guys think of these tracks? Are you looking for to Erykah Badu’s new album? Can Sean Paul bring Reggae back to the mainstream this year? Can Pleasure P enjoy success without Pretty Ricky? Shouldn’t B2K just beg Omarion to rejoin the group? Which remix was hotter, the original or the New York version?

i love erykah badu’s track and have always been a fan…can’t wait til her album drops!!
The member of B2K look silly saying that N word some many times. They might argue that they are just keeping it real but it just silly and sad. It’s one thing to say it one time but over and over again? Usually when people say that N word that many times it’s because they are racist. I seriously hope other races don’t think this is how black people talk all the time because it’s really just plain stupid. B2K never really had a member that was a true talent. Destiny Child had Beyonce who pretty much produced and wrote everything. Nsync had Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez but B2K had no one. Omarian was the lead singer but not much of a producer or song writers and that is what really matters. B2K have to rely on producers.
I agree that those guys look really ignorant by saying N1gga about 50 million times…however in their slight defense, they were in a heated argument and that’s usually when people’s gutter side comes out. If this is how they talk during a normal conversation then yeah they need to check themselves. But…I’ve never heard a dignified argument before, so I wouldn’t expect much more from them…however putting it on tv is another story.
Reecie - Good point. I don’t really cuss that much and I consider the N word to be a cuss word. I don’t use the N word but when I do get mad I do throw in a few curse words.
Hey Reecie,
DJ Gunz here. I gotta say, whoever you got that info on Sean Paul from str8 tricked you! That “Model” song is at over 10 yrs old….how do I know? I bought it in ‘98 when I was still in HS! lol. As for the other one I never heard it b4 but it sounds very much like ‘98 / ‘99 Sean Paul….nowhere near him today. Just giving you a heads up!

Beyonce didn’t write or produce most of DC stuff. THAT’S A LIE. The Writings on The Wall CREDITS all 4 members with writing…. Destiny Fulfilled CREDITS all 3 with writing. Survivor is the only album that Beyonce wrote. Beyonce doesn’t produce, all she does is arrange vocals… there is no such thing as a vocal producer, google it and you’ll find nothing. Sorry but its time people start giving credit where credit is due. I love the new Sean Paul jams.
HM Avid Reader - You are correct but I think the Survivor album establish Beyonce as the true talent. Not just the best singer but the true talent. On the group breakthrough single say my name and no, no, no she was the only member singing solo.
DJ…that’s the tricky part when it comes to leaks and stuff, the average person can’t tell how old or new something is until someone comes along and says “that’s old” lol. At any rate…old, new, whatever the case…most people have heard it, so I’ll leave it up there. Thanks for giving us more background about the songs.

Reecie callin me out in a post?!? I’m speechless!
“hop up out dat pretty muthafucka like HELLO!!!”
Ms. Badu’s joint is crazy!!! The only way it could be better is if Andre 3K jumps on the remix. Madlib did his thing on the production.
AS always, E. Badu is the truth! Love her…this song is not as hot as the “Honey” joint but I’m feelin’ it! Can’t wait for 2/28/08…AmErykah drops!!!
Madlib produced that E. Badu joint. Her album is going to be awesome.
HHLevel.com - Thanks for the invite. While a forum does build a community, I think we are content with the blog.
B2K has a reality show? Good lawdy…we need writers to come back and make quality TV.
What in the HELL is wrong with Raz-B?
Monique…THANK YOU for noticing that he is seriously crazy lol. I was shocked that nobody seemed to mention that ol’ boy is 51/50. The fact that he said he could kill everybody and then himself is just craaaaaaazy. He needs help, but dammit if they put this sh!t on tv, I will be watching lol.
Just because Beyonce was the only one singing on those songs doesn’t mean she is the true talent. DC has 4 #1 Hot 100 songs… Bills Bills Bills, Say My Name, Independent Women and Bootylicious… 3 of those songs feature Kelly Rowlasd as well with Bootylicious having Kelly at lead vocals. Beyonce may be your favorite but just because Kelly, Michelle & LeToya aren’t shoved down our throats or didn’t have the opportunity to helm a group album doesn’t mean they are not just as talented… I mean Mathew Knowles is Beyonce’s father & group manager. Lyrically, Survivor sucked so if having true talent means your writing ability is severely flawed but can make a hit than I guess Beyonce is the best. You don’t have to like the other members but give them their credit.
