Playing Catch Up- New Music from Ne-Yo, Ciara, Lil Kim, Lupe Fiasco, Tiffany Evans, J-Kwon, Kardinal Offishall/Lil Wayne/Pusha T

Ne-Yo has a new track called “Let Me In”. Ne-Yo is without a doubt an excellent writer and manages to tell an interesting story without being all “Trapped In the Closet” soap opera-ish like R. Kelly. This is a cool track…certainly not single-worthy, but I am glad to hear new music from Ne-Yo that showcases his unique voice rather than imitating other artists. Click here to listen

Ciara has a track with a rapper J-Hood called “Ahh”. This song is so boring and I rarely say that about a song. Click here to listen

So 15 years old is considered “grown now”? Singer Tiffany Evans seems to think so in her new song “I’m Grown” featuring Bow Wow. I can’t help but laugh at the assertion…someone needs to sit her down and let her know that she has some years to go before she can make that claim. It’s even more ironic that she has Mr. Temper Tantrum on the track lol. Click here to listen

Remember J-Kwon? He had that one hit “Tipsy”…well he is back with a new song called “Boo Boo Holdin Me Down”. First of all, there is nothing sexy or cute about the pet name “boo boo” lol. But…the song is actually kind of cool. I like the production and the lyrics are sweet for the most part. This is the kind of song I would expect from Chingy and I think it is a good move for J-Kwon to try and make a comeback with a track like this. The only problem is that his voice/flow aren’t distinctive at all…he actually sounds practically identical to Bow Wow. Click here to listen

Here is a bonus track from Lupe Fiasco called “Blackout”. This is a very different sound from Lupe with the techno-ish production and sped up flow. Kinda hot. Click here to listen

Lil Kim has all the wrong answers to the questions she poses in her new song “I Need A Bitch” featuring Nate Dogg. Since I complain about rappers like Snoop showing ZERO personal growth in their lyrics over the past decade, it’s only fair that I express the same contempt for Lil Kim who is still rapping about the same ish she was talking about when she was Biggie’s side chick. This song is ignorant no matter how you slice it…wack. Click here to listen

I don’t understand why Lil Kim chose such old a$$ songs to flow over for her new mixtape…like “Rock On Wit Ya Badself” which samples Lady of Rage from like the 90s. At least she delivers her lines with intensity and energy… so I give her a B for effort. Click here to listen

Kardinal Offishall has a new song called “Swag” featuring Pusha T and Lil Wayne. This is kinda nice…the production is hot and everyone brings a nice swag to the track. It’s kind of surprising to hear Lil Wayne and Pusha T on the same track considering the all the sh!t they have talked about each other over the past several months, but I guess money trumps all. What do you guys think of these new tracks? Are you excited to hear new music from Ne-Yo so soon? Shouldn’t Lil Kim step her game up lyrically? Can J-Kwon make a comeback? Are you surprised to hear Pusha T and Lil Wayne on the same track?

tiffany evans- ugh this little girl needs her ass beat, i’ve seen her say age inapproprite things during interviews before, on 106 and park she told terrence j that she could teach him things he didnt know about. It’s like no one is saying anything to her about it, where is her mother? she must be paying their bills. and now she singin bout she’s grown, she cant even respond correctly to interview questions and thinks she’s grown..

Lil kim song is crazy, and lil kim flow was nice on it for once in a long while, nate’s verse is funny as hell especially them first few lines.. it made me think.. i need a bitch that wouldnt mind playing this at our wedding… lol

ciara ft. j-hood - ahh : that doesn’t sound like ciara or j-hood unless they made this song before any of there careers started (well j-hood’s career still didnt start but you get the point)

j-kwon - booboo holdin me down : yea this is like a chingy/bow wow song, its ok but id rather have a jkwon song instead of a chingy/bowwow mix song.

tiffany evans : wow she sounds so stupid. WOW. sorry i had to say it one more time. i didnt even download it i went to imeem.com to listen to it. WOW. nice beat though (lol)

neyo : this is collie buddz song “Lonely (ft. Yung Berg)” i guess he just took the beat and did a freestyle or something. you’ll like this if your a neyo fan, but not me.

lupe fiasco : kinda sounds like dumb it down. i have his new album on my ipod but i dont have this bonus track. your rite reecie this techno-ish production with a sped up flow is kinda hot. i dont know if this is gonna make it to the ipod or not.

lil kim ft. nate dogg : hot beat, sounds like dr.dre but this is too ignorant for me.

lil kim - rock on with cha bad self : sounds liks an old skool freestyle, i ussually like these type of songs but i dont like lil kim, u would have to be a fan to like this.

Kardinal Offishall: uh oh, i like the swag on the track and imma clipse fan. just give me the cdq/dirty version of this track and it’ll get a couple plays on tha ipod. and lilwayne actually doesnt sound stupid like he on drugs and he actually delivers, im proud of him. best song of this review.

I think J-Kwon will make that comeback.. he’s had some growing up to do & time away to work on his writing. What a lot of people don’t know is that he recorded the hook on Bow Wow’s Fresh Azimiz, so thats why you might have confused the two. Hood Hop was a good start, lets see what else he can do. P.S. the new Lupe album is hottt.

yup that ne-yo joint is definately lonely from collie buddz. The producer shea taylor is part of ne-yo’s compound entertainment. So they have some kinda deal where shea is a in house producer for ne-yo’s projects. Be on the look out for the two’s new joints with Nicole S “Happily Never After” and Janet Jacksons new c.d.

  1. Sup Reecie? So if I got you correctly you’re not feeling Lil Kim …lol

    J-Kwon=Trash

And why is Neo Yo returning so soon.. I like duke though (no homo)
