Boondocks Season 2 Trailer
Props to LeSean Thomas
Season 2 of the one of the best shows on TV leaks its trailer. It looks edgier, raunchier, and more explicit. I wonder how the Don Imus situation and the burial of the n-word will affect the criticism of the show….
Show starts in October.

Heeeeeey “thehonorable”…I was just about text you to scold you for being so M.I.A. this week…and then you come and post this
Anyways…I initially wasn’t feeling The Boondocks, because I didn’t like the idea of “n!gga” being thrown around so much in a cartoon…but like most people, the comedy of it lulled me into a sense of complacency. This is one of the wittiest and funniest shows on tv. I would LOVE it if they would chill on the n’word though.
The MLK, Jr. episode is one of my favs…
I might have to get cable again just to watch it. HM should link the R Kelly episode to the new R Kelly post, because Boondocks predicted exactly how it will be.
“My name is ‘A Pimp Named Slickback’, you say the whole thing together, like a ‘A Tribe Called Quest’.” Hilarious!
Thank you!
This literally made my day. I consider this show somewhat productive similar to what ‘hot ghetto mess’ is attempting to do… I only hope by it being as thehonorable said “edgier, raunchier, and more explicit,” that it doesn’t become counter productive and tasteless. Promo looks great!
Looks cool
yes! da boondocks are back for another season
This one is hard to call. I think its a funny show but at the same time we just sit around and make fun of blacks. Believe me we’re not the only ones who watch this show. White kids love this stuff and figure that its ok to say the “n” word. Its shows like these that continue our long praised stereotype. Im an Xbox Live player and I hear white kids say nigga all day long and im tired of it even when I hear black kids say it because it makes us sound dumb and ignorant. Where do they get it from? MTV, BET, and VH1 to thank for keeping our bbq eating, watermelon guzzling, baggy pants having, nigga promoting selves. Where are black kids suppose to learn to be themselves and not follow this stereotype that we keep manufacturing for them? But we’ll keep watching Flava of Love which is absolutely degrading to black women or dumb rap videos because its entertaining. I remember when Dave Chappelle stopped his show because in reality “white people weren’t laughing with us they were laughing at us.” I was mad he ended his show but I matured a little and figured out he was right. That show did more to hurt us then to help. Some would say im getting to deep about it and its just comedy. Nah, its your image they’re putting on the screen. People develop stereotypes because thats what they constantly see from others. And what better to keep our image the way it is than TV. I mean if we talk about ourselves this much whats stopping white people from being able to say it. We promote it!
I personally love this show. I dont see how black cartoons saying the N word gives anyone the right to say anything, but that seems to be the popular theory. I have alot of white friends from school and work that watched the first season. I have known them for a little over a year and they have never said the dreaded N word around me.
Unfortunately I feel like if they removed every occurence of the n-word from this show, people would still find a reason to go after it. There’s so much more to this show than that. one of the main things i’ve gleaned from the Boondocks is that there are more pressing issues facing black folks that we need to pay attention to, and the gratuitous usage of “nigga” ain’t one of them. it appears to me that the creators of the show are using the word to bait people into revealing their casual ignorance of the show’s more prevailing themes. if someone watches the Boondocks and only walks away with “they used the n-bomb too much”, then it’s really an extreme case of not seeing the forest for the trees.
I totally agree Nova. All of my black friends that I introduced to the series at first couldnt get over the usage of the n - bomb lol. Eventually I was able to point out the jewels the show dropped and they finally appreciated it. Harambi!!!!!
There are always a million one reasons why people defend the use of the n-word…but really WHY is it necessary to begin with? If someone could come up with good reasons why it’s necessary, then they would have a legitimate point. Of course what can really be said “Uh…we like to say the n word. The n word makes everything sound funnier and cooler.” Give me a break lol.
a must see…period
The fact is that there’s no reason to defend the usage of the n word. why does anyone have to defend what they choose to do? I think we worry too much about what we think white people gather from our actions and not enough about educating ourselves.
Mabye I’m Just Crazy But, Didn’t Bow Wow Create This Show (I Thounght I Read Somewhere That He Did). Will Someone PLEASE Tell Me!
wow.
lol…why does every discussion about the n’word have to turn into “We think too much about what white people think”…that’s totally beside the point. As I said in the read a book post…why don’t we hold ourselves to a higher standard than we believe that white people do?
Once you put something out there for public consumption it’s going to be criticized…that’s just the way the world works. As I said…The Boondocks is a good show. Does the N-word make it worth watching? No. Would not using the n-word hurt the show? I can’t imagine why it would. My beef isn’t with the show, rather than with how everyone is always so quick to justify something so unnecessary that can be so easily remedied if only the people were held to a higher standard.
People are so content with saying “Well if that’s all you get from it then you’re a retard” rather than challenging themselves to make their point accessible. The show is funny, it makes valid social commentaries…but it’s not some savior of the black consciousness.
I don’t find the n-word necessary either, Reecie, but it IS an easy target for criticism. If you recall, a couple weeks back the NAACP was completely silent on the Jena 6 because they were so busy “burying” the n-word. It wasn’t until AFTER they were done with that fiasco that they addressed the Jena issue. It’s just very silly to me.
how is banning a word holding ppl to a higher standard? you are not telling ppl to value themselves, you are simply telling the author to use other words. Will not using the n word raise black people or any other people to a new level of self respect? Do you think that the usage of the n word somehow stunts our conscious growth? or is it just a symptom of a greater problem? I believe there’s a bigger problem and I’d like to see us tackle that and the n word will follow.
Eh, I personally find the n-word to be among the ugliest words in our language as Americans. And no, I do not feel the same way of all other racial slurs - they may be ugly, but the n-word has taken on a unique ugliness. If that even makes sens, lol…But its comedic value? Come on, it is another shock revolting thing, like casually bandying around fag as a vaguely negative derogation for any circumstance, or lewd sexual humor, lol. So get over yourselves, all of my n-word heads lol, cuz your appreciation of it is pretty simple and crass.
And LOL at Thugnificence: “Stop hatin and get money, my n–ga!”
anybody that don’t fine this show rolling on the floor funny i’m gonna “pee” on your cat.
Mark H is a knucklehead…. What is so wrong about us laughing at us… or white people laughing at us.. We laugh at them all the time… So what!?!?! Just because you watch the cartoon King of the Hill… do you feel all White people are like that??? If you did you would be the dumbest person on the planet… But still you laugh at them and its ok.. but if they laugh at us its wrong…
Thats just dumb…
I love the show… So to all who think like Mark H, ask yourselves what are you doing about the problems you feel… are you trying to make a change or just complaining…
Oh look I’ve been addressed. Listen kid, number 1 King of the Hill sucks. Number 2 King of the Hill never said nigga so I wasn’t even talking about it. Nice try thanks for your wasted time sonny. The point was missed entirely. So some are saying one show wont do that to people. Its something called INFLUENCE and it usual takes more than one thing to influence a person. Its kind of that same thing (INFLUENCE) that has other “niggas” calling each other “niggas”. You didnt just pull it out of the air and start addressing each other as it, it took many other “niggas” to call another “nigga” a “nigga” to INFLUENCE you to start saying “nigga” and think that “nigga” is just another word in your everday vocabulary.
Interracial marriage and gay marriage are 2 things that used to be sore subjects. Over the years of positive influence and also with help of tv it is not so tabu because of INFLUENCE. Just like “nigga” so many years of people and movies and tv INFLUENCE you to believe its fine now even though its the same word used while your forefathers we’re getting beat and whipped but its fine now. So one show is an INFLUENCE with many shows and thats the problem. And now im hearing people say well it doesnt effect me any more even when white people say it. But as soon as Michael Richards says it you’ll be in an up roar so thats a lie and dont even try to say that. Sooooo you can be like this Ike B Dike idiot above me or understand what im saying. (Ike B Dike - Niggas iz OTAY wit me cuz dats what I iz sir!) But Its just a word right guys!!! =)
dis is my show!!! im the biggest fan ever but yea i agree wit reecie on some points
