TI - Watch What You Say (ft. Jay-Z) (listen) (Props to Nahright and HipHopDx)
Pure dopeness, I have a In My Lifetime Vol. 1 feeling. My only grief are the rhetoric patterned lyrics in all of TI’s hooks - “What You Know Bout Dat,” “You Know What It Is,” and “Watch What You Say.” Dontt get me wrong - the hooks are hot…but have you noticed a pattern?

Little Brother - Good Clothes (Produced by Illmind)
(listen)
When 9th Wonder left the group, I was heart broken and kinda lost interest in Little Brother. To be honest, I don’t feel eligilble to review this joint because I am partial to 9th Wonder. Please listen and enjoy.

50 Cent - Follow My Lead (ft. Robin Thicke) Live
It may be rumored that 50’s Curtis may be delayed or shelved, but here goes a sneak preview Curtis’s 21 Questions 2007. To be honest, this sounds like a banger. I love the band and the production…to be honest, 50 and em (G-Unit) made some decent Thug Love songs…lol.

Common - The People
Common drops a banger with The People with one of the most underrated R&B cats Dwele. Excellent video, excellent production, excellent lyrics…this is the positive re-enforcement we need in hip-hop, esp. since our culture has been attacked recently with its lyrical content. My only grief is that I feel that Common should have released a track like “Southside” for his 2nd single because at the end of the day, we want dude to sell - that way, the music industry will see a shift saying that we want musical depth to counter that hip-hop crack joints and dance joints.

Kanye West - Makes A Beat

This has been floating around the internet this week. Kanye makes a beat. I believe this beat was used by Do or Die.

What do y’all think of the new TI? Did he bring the old Jay-Z out? How do y’all feel about the new LB track? Did 50’s joint with Robin Thicke surprise you? How dope is that Common video? Kanye made a beat, now can you do it?

Yo, and I said this quite some time ago, “The People” is by far one of Common’s best songs to date. His swag, lyricism, potentcy, consistency on the beat and transition is absolutely untouchable….He had some great ass lines:

“The people say I was sharp on tv, though at the grammys, they try to India Arie me. Went backstage and I bumped into Stevie. He said, “no matta what, the people gon see me.” Can’t leave rap alone the streets need me….”

I don’t care what anyone says, Common’s always been wit the pen and pad and dropped memorable lines and has inspired All the Chicago-ans that’s proceeded him…He deserves his cred and a damn Grammy. Stop playin comm sense. I’ve supported Comm eva since “Can I Borrow A Dolla.” Comm needs to bring home a grammy this year….He’s a vet!!!

I love the Little Brother song…I hope it’s a single. It gives them a chance to get to the ears of the people that need them most. Being partial to 9th wonder is silly/sentimental. He is a great producer but dope as Mistrel Show was, play it for anyone once, and they couldn’t distinctify 4 songs from the bunch. monotonus beats were crippling the group…

    Look,
You got to give credit where credits due… and in my opinion like Jay’ said cats make disposable music. So for me its like, Word!? You got a banger..? That’s wasup! *Adds to ipod playlist* - The End. You gets no green from me. All this said, replying to the above post made by ‘Simplename’ I can’t see either of these MC’s being nominated for best rapper. I fear this TI vs. TIP will be his weakest work yet from the singles released, and also 50’s singles are fallin’ to, but we shall see…

Lol. You mistake what I mean when I say “best rapper” Senoje. Each YEAR there is always one MC that stands out from the rest. Being that both TI and 50 are two of the top dogs out this year its most likely they will be nominated if not win an award in this sense. The singles put out by both rappers so far all bang but hell like you said we shall see..

  3. stephen… i don’t know how you can’t feel these dudes without 9th. they are still blazin!
