New Videos: Rihanna, Mya, Fantasia, DJ Quick/AMG
Rihanna’s new video for Umbrella featuring Jay-Z is out today. Rihanna definitely personifies her “Good Girl Gone Bad” theme with her new image and the feel of the video. She has a much darker and edgier image and I think she looks great. The video is very artistic and the choreography is great. I think Rihanna is really trying to come out hard and get taken seriously as an artist, and I must say I that I respect that. I’m starting to re-evaluate her talent level. This song is a hit and the video is definitely going to be a hit with current fans and will probably win her over some new ones.
Mya has a new video for her song, “Lock You Down” featuring Lil Wayne. I know this song has been out for a really long time, but I actually never bothered to listen to it…so I was surprised at just how banging the song is. The video is hot, Mya looks great, she sounds great, and her choreography is hot. She’s been in the game for a really long time now, and it’s nice to see her manage to keep her sound and image current. This is a hit!
Fantasia has a new video for her song “When I See You”. I love the city backdrop of the video and the more adult and sophisticated look she went for. There’s a very sweet and loving vibe in the video with all the couples they show throughout and the reunion between her and her love interest. For her first video she tried to go for an edgier look and sound but I think it really just made her look juvenille and it made it painfully obvious that she is definitely not a sex symbol lol. But with this video, she classed it up and keep it soft and sentimental…so this is definitely an upgrade. Unlike Hood Boi, this song shows growth in her lyrical content, and I think this has the potential to be a much bigger hit.
DJ Quick and AMG aka The Fixxers have a completely unimaginative video for their song “Can You Work Wit Dat”. The song is banging and of course I have Cali Love, but this video is just low budget. I’m sure their main concern was just throwing something together just to gain more exposure for the song so I’ll give them half a pass. As long as DJ Quick has been in the game though I would think he could come up with something better than that.

Rihanna’s video is amazing.
1. Rihanna — I love that haircut on a woman. As long as she covers up her forehead, she’s good 2 go! However, this song still kind of irks me. It’s cool though, just slightly irks my ears. I am starting to take her more seriously — had she come out with “S.O.S.” first instead of “Pon De Forehead” she would have been a much bigger star by now!
2. Mya — Mya can have allllllllllll my babies. And she can dance too. Better than Ciara. She coming for that crown Ciara! But essentially, I lump all these females into the “Entertainers” category.
3. Fantasia — Tasia Mae can BLOW. So there isn’t much of hers I won’t listen to. I think her album has been slept on though for real. She keeps it hood, but not as hood as Monica did on her latest joint LOL. This song is def a step in the right direction for Fannie…”"Hood Boy” video was ATROCIOUS for the most part, but she still sang.
4. DJ Quick — NO COMMENT. HE IS TOO OLD FOR THIS ISH. He could have done way better, even with the song.
I think the Rihanna video is pretty creative compared to whats out these days, but nothing life changing. I really like Mya, I wish she would get more shine, and she’s a real deal dancer who actually has been doing it before she became famous. The other two, eh.

Despite Jay’s appearance, the video is hot. It’s the first that I’ve watched in it’s entirety this year. (Does anyone have the BET Uncut version?, lol.) I knew the first time I heard this song that it was going to be big. A lot of these corny-ass blogs are coming around now. They were knockin’ the shit early, but now that they see the people are behind it, it’s a new day. You know the blogs that report every time Beyonce takes a shit, lol. But seriously, you can tell when an artist has big aspirations and you can also tell when a label has a lot of faith in an artist. When they avoid what’s on the radio and drop something different and make everybody else catch up. BeYAWNce did that with “Crazy In Love” , Cassie with “Me & U” or Amerie with “Why Can’t We…” & “One Thing”.
2.Can someone please get Fantasia a man. She looks for any excuse to “be all upon a nugga” in her video, lol. If you are a male model and you have been chosen for a Fantasia video, be prepared to get “slobbed down”. But seriously, I like the song, but there were better singles on that CD.
