It’s Official: Usher Confirms Engagement
Usher confirmed his engagement to longtime stylist, girlfriend (30 something mother of a few kids) Tameka Foster to MTV news. Here is what Usher had to say:
“I’m engaged now,” he said, smiling. The Grammy winner even said he could be walking down the aisle before the end of this year. ”
He also spoke on a possible November release of a new studio album:
“I feel it’s about time for me to come out with an album… I’m not extremely enthused about where music has gone. I say that coming from listening to artists like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson — those great artists and iconic musicians. I feel music is at a standstill”
So what do you think about the news that Usher is engaged? Isn’t it funny how just 2 years ago Ursh wasn’t ready to settle down and now he’s engaged? Are you looking forward to new music from Usher?

she is cute and all, but why would Usher want to marry a woman with baggage. I understand that she is old and probably challenges Usher to a certain degree that most young ladies can’t (btw, i love my fly young sisters doin their thing…), but damn Ush!!!
anyway - i hope this works out. we need more positive examples of Black Love. Esp. with the divorce rate being like 70% in Cali. I hope they are the New Will and Jada and not Bobby and Whitney.
I used to tell myself that I would never date an older woman with children but I work with this one girl who is in that category and I just have the biggest crush on her. I feel bad for thinking this but I wouldn’t mind getting with that. Sure the chances of me hooking up with her is pretty slim but a guy can dream but anyway enough about that let’s me talk about the topic. Whenever an artist complains about the music scene it really does sound like a cliche. I think the music scene was pretty good last year sure songs like this is why I’m hot and rock you hips make me think otherwise sometimes but it wasn’t so horrible last year. I felt some artist (Lupe, Timbaland, Jay Z, Nas, Robin Thick, chilli pepper, etc) stepped their game up. Even artist whose whole album I wasn’t feeling(Ludacris, Beyonce) had some great stuff out.
I wonder how those kids feel about the idea of having Usher as a step daddy.
Usher cheated on Chili (from TLC) when they were together, so I don’t think he can be that picky about dating people who’ve cheated on their partner.
I think music as a whole is on a downturn right now, but I feel like far too many artists–when they comment on the state of the industry–are painting themselves as saviors. Does anyone, besides Usher, really think that a new Usher album is going to revive the industry? Has Justin Timberlake officially taken Usher’s spot anyway?
All great points above. Usher’s a bit hypocritical with his comments on the state of the industry… especially when he comes out with “teaser” samplers like “The Rain” — He’s hardly even singing! It’s like that melodic talking style, almost like a Nelly — weak! That song is garbage and isn’t “saving music” at all. If he really wants to step up his game he should learn how to play the keys and the axe like his colleague Mr.Timberlake (or Thicke). I wonder if he thought “Ice Box” was a music saving track that he just HAD to jump on. haha
That being said, I’m a huge Usher fan and definitely excited for his new album. It won’t “save R&B” or anything, but I’m sure it will still be solid. He’s always good for some new dance moves and new styles in his videos as well.
Justin Timberlake is BETTER than USHER. All I gotta say.

Hell naw! JT can’t compete with Usher…because as long as Usher is in the spotlight people will remember where JT is jacking his style from. JT lucked up and got Timbaland to produce his album…smart move on his part…but he’s still not the real deal.

I dont think people will think that JT is Jackin Usher’s Style at all. I Enjoy and support JT and Usher to the fullest but i gotta say i’d play ‘Futuresex/Lovesounds’ more than i’d play ‘Confessions’ (the album not the singles) Hell i’d play “Justified’ more than “confessions’. i really feel like usher needs to come hard with this album justin’s stepped his game up with his songwriting,vocal production, and music production its time for usher to do the same. so far ive heard that he’s enlisting Jermaine Dupri as his main producer (also working with dre &vidal). Jermaine Dupri, Dre & Vidal > Timbo,Danjahandz,Will.I.Am,Rick Rubin? i dunno.
Kind of interesting how this turned into an Usher vs Timberlake debate. I pick Timberlake over Usher anytime and anyday. Usher is a better singer but Timberlake is the better artist. He have to win over a harder crowd then Usher because of a few factor like his skin color, boyband pass, what happened at the superbow, not having the singing range of Usher, Brain Mcknight and other and because of all this that made him a better artist. Usher doesn’t really have much competition or a tough audience to prove himself to and because of that when his album comes out he is going to dominate.

Reecie I respect you but I’m going to have to disagree. I believe when an artist work with a producer that artist brings out the best in the producer. I believe Usher have brought out the best in JD the same way Timberlake brought out the best in Timbaland the same way MJ brought out the best in Quincy Jones. I don’t believe any artist can walk up to Timbaland and say hey produce me a hit album like Futuresex/lovesound or someone can walk up to Quicy Jones and say hey produce me a thriller type album. Only the real deal can bring out the best in people and those artist are it.

Thank you. Don’t confuse JT with a ‘REAL’ R&B artist. Don’t get me wrong, he’s crossing over, but don’t forget JT started w/ the boybands and is working is way back. Usher was always R&B and luckily crossed over to Pop. Plus Usher has way more sex-appeal than JT, don’t make me take back to the 90’s “just call me a mack..”

Please…both Usher and JT are overrated. Futuresex/Lovesound is a terrible album…Timbaland has gone down in production, compare old timbaland (Aaliyah, Missy, Ginuwine etc..) with new Timbaland (JT, Nelly Furtado, Pussycat Dolls). JT has a weaker set of vocals but they both have similar dance moves. Neither should ever DARE COMPARE THEMSELVES TO MICHALE JACKSON, PRINCE OR STEVIE WONDER..EVER. When they both start producing their own music, writing their own songs, playing their own instruments and actually become pioneers for music and not just imitators than they can start making comparissons.
^^^ Uh, I thought JT wrote, produced, and played his own instruments. I’m sure Usher does the same. All you gotta do is look in the album credits.lol They may be overrated to you, but compared to most of the crap out now, they’re doing pretty good in their own right.
Urrmm. They do not write and produce their own tracks. They have a legion of writers and producers on all their tracks….and are given writing credit. Plus their songs don’t exactly push any boundries for articulate songwriting. Have never rated either of them…both are more like homages to Michael Jackson rather than artists on their own right, although JT is now trying to be Prince, lol.
Okay, I see we’re going to have to agree to disagree on that one. But I do have one question for ya’ll: Why is it so bad to try and emulate the greats? Obviously, both of them (as well as the rest of the world) knew how talented and successful MJ, Stevie, Prince, etc. were, so why can’t they strive to be just as great. I personally think its stupid to hate on somebody just for that reason. Michael, Prince, and the other greats got their influences somewhere, and they didn’t reach their peak overnight.
To be fair Justin Timberlake did write and produce two songs on Macy Gray album, another on Charlie Wilson album, one for Reba the country singer album, and he just did one for (I know a spelled it wrong)Rihana album. Michael Jackson set the bar for solo artist and for the type of music Usher and Timberlake does it’s pretty hard for them to do a performance and not have people think even a little bit MJ. MJ did say this time around he was influence by Timberlake and Usher also MJ did invite Usher to dance with him at MSG and Timberlake did induct Michael Jackson into the Rock&Roll hall of fame.
My question is why is this little bitch always taking shots at other R&B arists? They all use the same writers and producers. How is he any different?
Yeah but Michael, Stevie and Prince all created their own sounds (and not just imitated like Usher and JT) and made music becuase they loved it. JT and Usher just go with the trend….the trend now is nonsensical electro pop RnB. If JT can actually develop his, very weak, vocals and actually focus on his music rather than how much units he sells or how cool he looks than maybe he can progress. Sorry but if you are waiting for JT and Usher to be the new MJ or Stevie than music standards have really dropped over the years.
Also fo course MJ is going to say that…he needs to sell albums, MJ has been terrible for years even his vocals have been knocked.
