Brandy Could be Facing Vehicular Manslaughter Charges

“After finding Brandy responsible for a fatal four-car crash in Los Angeles last month, police are urging the district attorney’s office to charge the singer with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
On Dec. 30, Brandy Norwood was driving her Land Rover on the 405 Freeway near Ventura Blvd. when she rear ended the car in front of her, which had slowed down along with freeway traffic. The driver of the car Brandy hit, 38-year-old wife and mother Awatef Aboudihaj, was killed when her vehicle slammed into a third car, careened into the freeway’s center divider and was hit broad-side by a fourth automobile.
According to CHP spokesman Leland Tang, the Highway Patrol referred the case to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for further review with the recommendation that the 27-year-old former star of “Moesha” be cited with the misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charge.
A misdemeanor offense, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, is less serious than a felony charge and means that prosecutors determine that the death did not result from gross negligence, a spokesman for the city attorney said.”
I’ve been trying to avoid reporting this story, just because I think it’s a tragic situation overall. I drive the 405 Freeway several times a day, so I know firsthand just how quickly and unexpectedly traffic can stop. Your lane might be stopped while the other 4 lanes are zooming past you at 60+ MPH, so it can be very hard to gauge traffic. The flow can literally go from 60+ to zero in a matter of seconds for no logical reason whatsoever. For that reason, I can empathize with Brandy or anyone causing an accident on that freeway, because it doesn’t take gross negligence or recklessness to be caught off guard and rear-end someone. The tragic part is that a person is a dead from a chain reaction car crash that was started by Brandy. It was an accident, and it’s scary to think that something that I’m surprised doesn’t happen more often on that freeway can land you in prison. I feel for the family who lost a love one, but it seems like Brandy is being persecuted because she is a celebrity.
UPDATE: Brandy Sued for $50 Million in Civil Wrongful Death Suit
“The parents of a woman killed in a freeway crash involving Brandy sued the actress-singer for $50 million Tuesday. The wrongful-death suit claims Brandy was driving recklessly when her Land Rover struck the back of a Honda driven by Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, “The Insider” first reported.”
I’m sure we all saw this coming a mile away but come on…$50 Million?! That’s just freaking money hungry! Why not speak out and urge the District Attorney to press charges in the case if they were concerned about justice? Why go straight for the bank account? Most people at least have enough sense to wait until after a criminal trial to file a civil suit!
What do you guys think about the situation? Should she be charged for manslaughter for causing the accident case closed? Have you ever been in an accident? Is having to live with causing someone’s death punishment enough? How would you feel if you were facing charges?

At least she didn’t have any drug in her system or drinking like that girl from the simple like who is lineol Richie daughter and at least she didn’t fled the scene like Halle. From what I understand after she hit the car she qucikly reported it to the police and stayed at the scene.
Damn,
thats not a progressive look at all. Wow….what if she does jail time? whoa….
I don’t think Brandy can make it in jail. Do you remember how on Punk’d how much she cried when dealing with the police and that was for her brother being sent for jail.
^ I was just thinking about her on Punk’d. I remember when she told the cop “You’re black, you know who we are”
