I think Jay only sold a lot cuz it was released on the same week as black friday - and everyone jus picked it up since they was shoppin for everyone else.

I mean even Beyonce sold 150k+ last week …

I don’t think Jay has ever gone beyond double plat… which in my opinion, even durin the 90’s wasn’t that high of a status.

    Hmmm…to my understanding:
    1. Blueprint 2 has sold at least 3 mill to date
    2. Volume 1… 2X plat
    3. Volume 2 is certified 5X platinum in US and 8+ mill worldwide
    4. Volume 3- 3X plat
    5. Dynasty- 2X plat
    6. Blueprint- 2X plat
    7. Blueprint 2- 4X plat
    8. Black Album- 4X plat
    9. Kingdom Come…predicting 2X plat…

“I don’t think Jay has ever gone beyond double plat”…sure about that?

Good for Jay! I really like the album and I can’t see why it wouldn’t go double platinum like Thesis predicted. Jay’s album is a much more mature sound than the dumbed down music that pervades the airwaves right now. I personally think his album is a lot like a Nas album…so Jay’s success should definitely pave the way for the acceptance of Nas’s much more sophisticated style.

Interestingly enough Reecie, I was conversing with my mans and ems last night and both of us concurred that Jay’s mature side REALLY came out on this album…In a way, although i give the album a 4/5 (maybe a 3.999999983992 e^2) lol…..i still think that our Hov a la Jordan of the Wizards has came with something refreshing sans “Anything w/ Usher” that track has just got to go. lol.

Umm…Jay hit us with Minority Report, Lost Ones, I Made It, Do You Wanna Ride (again, like i said before, is very similar to Nas’ “One Love”) Beach Chair, etc…Jay has a lot of grown up tracks on the album…Although all or majority of the tracks are metaphorically on a disparate eschelon from where cats in the game need to be, Jay just tells you the real…yea, “Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee’s Reloaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaded” lol…

I wonder how many units Nas will do…Nas has never really been a huge numba dude but i can and will expect the album to go at least plat….i doubt double cause of what the internet is doing….but you never know…Nas has a great machine behind him now….he just needs some better beats….Hold him down hov…hold him down. lol…

I wonder how many other artist like Timberlake and Jay Z can take a three year break and come back with strong album sales like this. Not many that I can think of at the top of my head. I predict if Jay Z play his card right he can probably sale close to three million.

Not many, which shows there’s a lot more than a hot ass beat and catchy lyrics that goes into their songs. Major props to Jay-Z!

my question is…was this album a platinum-quality album? i really don’t think it was…I mean it was decent but def. not one of his best….I’m surprised he didn’t sell more in the first week though, given that he’s Jay-Z and the name usu. speaks for itself…

Hark Knock Life Vol. 2 Sold 5 million. So please keep up if you want to talk music…

  1. For those who don’t see Hip-Hop as a religion, and don’t worship at the altar of MC sells-a-lot, I will say this: Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come is weak. Perhaps his weakest release since Blueprint 2. Nas’ Hip-Hop Is Dead is flat out boring. I’m thoroughly disappointed in both artists and it’s no wonder Mr. Carter had to purchase 200,000 of his own CDs to get his numbers up.

I think Jay will do great as time goes on, people are gonna have to accept change in an artist who has longevity. The old Jay would have been 1.5 million by today. I feel that the album is great and much more mature than some of his previous material. To understand a great artist, a listener must be open for change.

As of February 4, Kingdom Come was #54 on the Billboard 200 chart with over 1,318,971 copies sold.

My initial prediction of double play by 1/29/07 was off by over 550,000 units…not a good look Jay.

To Thesis and the others…Why are you arguing with obvious idiots? To borrow a line from one of the most prolific lyricists ever….A wise man told me don’t argue with fools// Cause people from a distance, can’t tell who is who.
